In Search of Balance

I started on SparkPeople in February of 2008 because I wanted to be a part of a community that supported my goals to look and feel better, and I wanted the accountability and measurement tools that SparkPeople offers.

I reached my goal and maintained it for a while, lost my ground when I clerked in the summer of 2010 and made it all the way back to my goal for my wedding on 1/1/11

I really love to "dine" and took some trips after I finnished the bar exam that included some really delicious food. I've also been put on some medicine that seems to be slowing my metabolism. I am now more than 10 pounds away from my goal weight and have started working a desk job with really long hours that don't really allow me to exercise or be as active as I would really like. I am working to change my perspective so that exercise can be relief from my stress rather than add to it, and I'm trying to be healthy. I want to feel good about my body again, but more than that I want to feel good.

My Goals:
I like to call my work out and nutrition goals my "Hot Body Plan."

I want to regain the body I had at my wedding and find a healthy balance of working out, eating well and enjoying life.

I want a tone hot body that I am confident will carry me though life's adventures.

I want to eat smart but allow myself to enjoy the declious delights of life.



My Program:
I'm watching my calories being careful to balance the not as healthy meals with declious salads and fresh fruit. I am trying to get protein in every meal.

I am trying to get cardio in 4 days a week. I do a Zumba class on Saturday mornings and any other time I can fit it in. I am trying to fit in one or two more exercises but things that I find fun or recreational, rather than just trying to get the highest calorie burn.

Personal Information:
I am a third year attorney for a small office of a large firm in Houston, Texas. I am very active in my church, and madly in love with my amazing husband.


Other Information:
I believe that Jesus is my Lord and savior and that the gospel is the answer to every question.

I'm an avid reader, a world traveler and I love good food, good company, and good fun!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! Seeing the difference in those measurements was awesome! I have lost the weight so slowly and have body image issues so I never really "see" my weight loss. Even though I've gone down in clothing sizes, I manage to convince myself that my jeans miraculously stretched out (I'm not even kidding!) or something like that! So this was like concrete proof that I have lost weight. It was great to see and was a bigger boost than seeing the scale go down!

Thanks for the comment on my page! I really hope I'm successful in starting over. The 5k (re)training is going well, I ran two miles in 20 minutes today which leaves me 14 minutes to finish the last 1.1 miles to reach my first goal of 34 min for the Thanksgiving Day 5k. Have a great week!
