My husband and I are just getting started with our lives together, and we want to put a good foot forward by getting healthy! I have been overweight since I was in 6th grade, and I am tired of it! I have tried to diet and lose weight so many times, and failed. I am tired of trying and not getting results!! My husband and I are both starting this weight loss journey together...... We can do this and you can too!!!!!!!!!!!!

The above statement was written when I started sparkpeople in July of 2010, so I wanted to add a little update...SPARKPEOPLE REALLY DOES WORK!!! I JUST WANT TO SHOUT THIS TO THE TOP OF MY LUNGS!! Like I said, I have never been able to lose the weight before..... until using sparkpeople!! It has helped me lose 65 pounds (and counting!) and finally reach a weight where I am considered healthy!!!! I have never been this small in my teenage/young adult years!! I could not have done it with all of the information I learned through sparkpeople, the calorie/fitness tracking, and motivational stories on here!! I am a new person and I love it!! And it also turned me into a runner... something I NEVER EVER EVER thought I would be in my life!! Sparkpeople works... I'm living proof :)
And Hello! A little about me... My name is Kim. I am 25 years old and live in West Monroe, LA. I am a first grade teacher, reader, movie watcher, beach go-er, craft maker, and a go getter.... **UPDATE 3-12-11 and NOW a RUNNER!! :)** Always have to be busy doing something or working on some new project. Been married to my wonderful and loving husband since December of '09, and we finally found our dream home and working on making it our very own!! We have 3 babies.... Yoda, Morgan, and Toulouse.... and no, we wouldn't name a kid Yoda.. they are our cats! :)
I would like to lose 65 pounds by May of 2011 or sooner! I am 5' 8" and 230 lbs. and wear a size 18. My goal is to get down to about 160 lbs and into a size 6/8. I have been overweight most of my life, and its just getting worse. I also want to eat healthy and be able to say NO to sweets and stop overeating! I want to be healthy and feel good and energetic! I'm too young to feel this tired all the time....
Now that I have reached the top number for my healthy weight, I wanted to tone up a little more. I want to lose about 10-15 more pounds and be 145-150 pounds. As for fitness goals, I want to keep up with a strengthening program and tone up my arms, abs, and thighs! And my running goal is to start training for a half-marathon and do one in a year!
I am currently training for a Half-Marathon! Along with my running, I do a variety of strength training exercises, including Jillian Michaels' DVD workouts.
DIET - I am limiting soda/sugary drinks, fried foods, things high in sugar/fat, and ALL SWEETS! I want to eat things higher in protein, lower in fat, fruit, veggies, and drink more water and milk (osteoporosis runs in my family). I am trying very hard to do the whole "clean eating" diet. I am counting calories and plan to consume no more than 1,800 a day.

August - 212 lbs - Size 16
September - 200 lbs - Size 14
October - 184 lbs - Size 14
November - 178 lbs - Size 12/14
December - 173 - Size 10/12
January - 168 - Size 8/10
February - 160!! Hit my original goal weight and not considered overweight now! Now onto my new goal weight! - Size 8/10
March - 156 lbs - Size 8
April - 150 lbs and a Size 6! Passed my original goal!! I am working on toning up and maybe losing about 5-10 more pounds this summer!
May - 149 lbs - Size 6
June - 149 lbs - Size 6
