A Birthday Present To Myself
At the end of 2004 I weighed 145lbs (5'6" tall) and was working out three times a week for my spiritual well-being rather than weight loss. I would like my life to return to that sort of place where I'm at a healthy weight and loosing weight is not my first priority, and all consuming anxiety, in life. :) I feel like many overweigh people feel this type of anxiety in their life and it is far too consuming! I want to strive for health and happiness and raise my daughter to do the same. ...
I've been packing on pounds since I met my husband at the beginning of 2005. I gained 20 lbs. from the time I met him to our wedding date and another 15 lbs. between the wedding and when I got pregnant. During my pregancy I gained another 70 lbs (gestational diabetes is brutal!) and my failing marriage likely contributed to less weight loss than I would have liked after she was born (Yes, I am an emotional eater!). My daughter is now nearly 2 and I've been divorced for a year. Many of my stressors have been reduced or eliminated and I'm feeling more spiritually at peace so I truly feel mentally ready to begin this journey :) 10-31-08: Currently, I weigh 200lbs. Today I stuffed my face with Halloween candy, cookies and even Mexican food (my favorite) for my last hurrah. I feel my 'last hurrah' was totally necessary and well worth the 2000 (or more) calories I likely consumed :) Tomorrow, November 1, I'll start working towards my goal. I'd like to loose 50 lbs by my birthday (mid-May) which is about 2 lbs. per week. I joined a local gym today (10-31) and I think my goal is totally do-able, therefore, I don't see any good excuse at this point for me to weasel my way out of this!

My Goals:
-Find peace of mind and grow spiritually -Loose 50 lbs. between Nov. 1 2008 and my birthday in mid-May of 2009. -Maintain a healthy life style once my weight loss goal is met. -Raise my daughter so she is able to maintain happiness and health in her life.
My Program:
I plan on starting slow by working out 3 days a week and building up to 5 days a week. Once I reach 5 days a week, I'd like to focus on creating a balance between cardio (60%) and strength training (40%) fitness activities.
Personal Information:
I live in the far western suburbs of Chicago but I'm always wishing I had enough reason to move somewhere with a more temperate climate!
Other Information:
I currently am home with my daughter during the day and am finding it emotionally challenging for me to bite the bullent and return to the work force on a full time basis. I can't bare to put her in daycare! :( In order to keep myself home more often than not, I'm considering graduate school.
