Keeping healthy is a daily ritual. Being aware of what is good to put into my body, being aware of how to work my body to stay fit and being aware of my emotions, be it that they are highs or lows has become a part of my living experience.

I have had the pleasures of reaching success in weight loss and fitness and I have had the disheartening experience of losing a baby great granddaughter almost 2 years ago and my son just one month ago.

Through all of of these emotions, I have reminded myself continuously of the hard work it took to get to where I am today and where I want to be for the rest of my life. I want to be as healthy as I can be so I can watch this world change, so I can experience all there is to see and do. I want to be healthy enough to enjoy those experiences without pain or the pressures of not being fit enough to breath properly or move freely.

In order to do the things I want to do in life, I must always keep in mind that to be healthy and fit, I must eat moderately and healthy and I must remain active daily.

My challenge for 2017 is stay focused on what I know is the healthy way. I must not allow grief and loss to disrupt or deter me from loving my body enough to always take care of it in a healthy manner.

January 9th 2017:
I continue to maintain my goal weight and healthy habits that I have learned through Spark People. I am now 3 months post op from giving my 40 year old son my right kidney. I feel fantastic now that I have the go ahead to return to my beloved running and look forward to my next half marathon race which I will compete in come June 4th 2017.

October 19th 2016:
I AM NOW A KNOWN KIDNEY DONOR..........................
I just had surgery to remove my right kidney. No I am not ill, quite the contrary. I am actually extremely healthy which has made me fit to give my 40 year old son my kidney for transplant. My son had been on dialysis since May of 2016 which was the result of renal failure due to being an insulin dependent diabetic for 38 years.
Because I have been able to maintain my healthy lifestyle that I adapted through Spark People, I was able to help give my son a better quality to living. I am thankful to both God and Spark People because so far the surgery has proven to be a success.

August 31 2016: changed my name from Keepitup62 to Keepitup4Life to reflect my way of living.

Hi there, I returned to Spark People in June of 2014 and have changed my life drastically ever since.
I reached my final goal weight by Christmas 2014 and been maintaining since.

It is now January 2016 and remain below my goal weight by 5 pounds at (110 lbs) which is my long term goal to stay at this weight and at this fitness level if not better.
I feel more confident, energized, younger, stronger and healthier than ever.

I set new goals for myself to become a runner by June of 2015 and to developing my muscles so I can look toned and lean.........nothing can STOP Me!

My first race ever was completed on Sunday June 7th 2015 and it was not a 5K, not a 10K but a half marathon (21.1 k). I am a runner and feel awesome!
I am empowered and I WILL REACH All OF MY GOALS!

My name is Susan and
I am now heading into my 65th year. I plan on living until I am 103 years so I am working on staying as healthy as I can through Spark People.
I am a retired nurse and married to my soul mate Brian and have been for going on 40 years . We have 4 adult children and 4 grown grandchildren as well as an honorary daughter and grand daughter who live in Denmark and we are the proud owners of 4 beautiful dogs and 3 wonderful cats that we rescued from being feral and have socialized.

I love to do world travel with my husband and I also enjoy reading a good mystery or crime novel.

I find that power walking and running is the greatest way for me to de-stress and I love it!



Other Information:
When I was in high school 1966-1970 I was on the gymnastics team so every year on my birthday I stand on my head to prove that I still have it!
