Time to Shape Up!

I find myself this year at age 55. I am in the middle of Iowa, in the country. I do not drive. Countryside is pretty, but I was city raised and feel totally out of my element after living in a small town with sidewalks from age 18 until 50. I am adapting & enjoying all the new outdoor space.

Many nights I hear coyotes very close to the house, such a lonesome sound. Sometimes I startle a very large possum in the old barn or garage lean-to. Lots of wildlife for this quiet country ...

I am pleased that finally this year my yard has bird's foot trefoil growing in it! The bright yellow flowers bloom all summer & it has became my favorite volunteer plant in my yard next to purple sweet clover.

I realize it is high time to focus on my health, that it is never too late. I mostly use wii fit and exercise videos & a challenge here on Spark.

I 'just' have enough internet here for video streaming and for that I am grateful! Another half mile out, and I would have been internetless!

I enjoy the blogs of people with the same goal - getting healthier. I am inspired by so many!

I like all the resources on this site, but especially all the like minded people that really understand working toward fitness and health.

Living in a much smaller home has helped me pare down my possessions. I am debt free and plan on moving back into town when my old home is renovated.

I keep a smile on my face and a thankful heart.

Hi, thanks for commenting on my blog. I like your comment about young children not eating the cookie and often leave it on the ground. I also notice that young children love to eat fruit for sweets. ~ so many lessons to be learned from a toddler.

Welcome to the team, Karen. I live in NE Missouri not too far from Iowa and also live out in the middle of no where. This morning, we had a deer in our back yard. I love being close to nature! I love Spark People as it keeps me in touch with others. It is too far to workout at the gym so workout in my sun room. There is plenty of room for my stationary bike and treadmill and also to do a little bit of mid-day dancing.

Take care and keep your dancing shoes handy - you just never know when the dance will come...
