Hello again! Unfortunately I got sidelined by a concussion in mid-April which basically forced me to sit on my butt for 1.5 months. The first half of this year was not kind to me, but I'm back on track now & setting new goals.

My history:

I'm a 37 year old mother and wife. I graduated from my nursing degree in 2009 and work on an inpatient psychiatric unit in my home town. I've been overweight my entire adult life but in the last few years my weight was really bad, reaching a high of 260 lbs. from sometime in 2011 until I had a wake up call in July 2012. At that time, one of my coworkers had a heart attack. She was only 40 & her little girl is younger than mine. I've been very lucky that my weight hasn't yet affected my health, but it's only a matter of time. So I'm doing something about it now before I get to that point.

I've used Sparkpeople on & off for several years. I enjoy exercising but tend to stop doing it for long periods of time, usually when my energy is low. I usually eat lots of nutritious foods, but I just also eat a lot of junk. I've also struggled with seasonal depression since my daughter was born in 2004.

My Goals:
My long-term overall goal is to get below a BMI of 25. That means a weight of 153 lbs. However, this will (hopefully) be interrupted by a pregnancy. I am starting again at 260 lbs. on July 18/2012

GOAL ACHIEVED!
234 lbs. on Oct. 21/2012. This was 10% of my body weight lost.

Setback!
My depression hit hard this past winter & I got off track. I managed not to regain all my weight though. Then I got a concussion mid-April, forcing me to not exercise for 1.5 months. I restarted my plan mid-October 2013, at which point I weighed 245 lbs.

My current mid term goal is to get to 220 lbs. My target date for this is Feb. 15/2014

The target date for my overall goal weight of 150 lbs. is Oct. 15/ 2014.

My Program:
I take Muay Thai classes as many times a week as I can get there with my schedule (usually 2). During the warmer months, I use Zombies, Run! on my phone on other days. During the winter months, I go to Zumba classes on other days. I also have a pretty good set up for doing plyometric & strength exercises at home if I can't make it to either class.

Daily Goals
1. Exercise for at least 10 min.
2. Drink at least 3 litres of water (12 cups).
3. Eat at least 6 servings of fruits & vegetables.
4. Use my therapy light as needed (usually 15 to 30 min).
5. Talk about how I'm feeling through friends, family, or SparkPeople.
6. Stretch for 5 min.
7. Review my goals.

Weekly Goals
1. Do 150 min. of cardio.
2. Do full body strength training 2 times.
3. Blog at least once on Sparkpeople.

Personal Information:
I live in the Great White North (aka Canada).

I'm a huge geek/gamer girl - I started with Lord of the Rings & Dune when I was in my early teens, then D&D, and it all snowballed from there.
