Keeping Fit and Healthy

I'm here on Spark to continue and enrich my healthy lifestyle. I don't need to be the fittest or the thinnest, but I do want to be healthy! My main goals are to eat well (fruits and veggies, fiber, and less dessert) and exercise regularly. I'm 5'8" and have a healthy BMI. I have to eat gluten free because I have celiac disease.

I love the gym -- I never thought I'd say that! I take classes, but I'm also trying to incorporate more strength training through the Girls Gone Strong ...

Thanks for checking in! The book I read (or re-read, actually) is called "The Mercy of Thin Air." It is my favorite book! I would highly recommend it!

The chicken marinade recipe, which is awesome, is: 1lb chicken, 2 tbsp oil, 2 tbsp lemon juice, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp oregano, 1/2 tsp pepper, and 1/8 tsp liquid smoke. Marinate 6 hours - overnight and saute with sliced onions & bell peppers.

I appreciate the support!

Hi Kelly, thanks for stopping by my blog! I think I have about the opposite problem as you. I've spent the last two years thinking of nothing but finishing school, taking the bar exam and then setting up my practice. Then when I came back to earth, I realized there was all this *crap* that I had just put off thinking about at all. So... here we are. And, I tend to be a little *too* direct, like blow you away direct. And that's not good either. I'm looking forward to meeting with this therapist. I really believe she can help me put things in perspective.

Keep me posted on your progress too!

I appreciate you taking the time to read and comment on "Me: 88.6 Pounds Between Then and Now".

You asked: "What would you say has been the most important factor in your weight loss journey?"

Me: Realizing that this was going to be a whole new way to live (lifestyle) and that in order to continue my success, I would have to continue doing all the things that got me to this point. Accountability is the biggest thing for me so each meal I portion out what I eat using a digital kitchen scale and measuring spoons and then record it in the Nutrition Tracker. (Yes, I can certainly "eyeball and portion" what I am eating but I am mindful of the old saying, "Your eyes are bigger than your stomach.").

one of my another fitness friend is also doing whole 30, and i checked their program, they exclude dairy, legumes, grains from diet and its not possible for me to eliminate them, i get 30% of my proteins from dairy everyday (milk, yogurt, cheese), and the only complex carbs i eat are grains and legumes (if excluding carbs from dairy and veggies), i will be lost without them, haha
