Hi fellow Sparkers,
I am an exercise lover who likes to do something active every day. I think of myself as an athlete. Medals or trophies are secondary, it's all about the lifestyle of continuosly striving for improvement. Sparkpeople helps me in this several ways, like goal setting, tracking my progress, monitoring nutrition and networking with like minded people. My main forms of exercise are running, swimming, biking and strength training.

Your comment about not doing an Ironman until you are an empty nester brought back memories. My wife told me when I did mine that if I planned to do another, she would leave me!

Between swimming at 5:00 AM with the Pitt Masters team, running 40+ miles a week, and cycling 3 days a week while working full time, I was not around as much as my family wanted.

I saw on one of the running team pages that you posted that you just finished your first year of your running streak! That's awesome. Here's to another great year of running!

I added you as a friend in the hope that following your streaking will motivate me. I have been married for 30 years and am the father of 3 daughters so we have something besides running in common.

One thing we don't have in common is swimming.

I swam with the Pitt Masters Swim team when I was training for Ironman Canada in Penticton, BC. I think I swam more in the 6 months before that event than in the 17 years since.

Good luck in 2010.

And good luck getting over that flu!
