SPARK ON! and on, and on - maintenance - help page!!

I have lost 40 to 50 pounds - 5 times over the past 30 years. October 2011 I was introduced to Sparkpeople - and by walking 4 to 6 miles 5-6 days a week and using the tracker in my calorie range, I have lost 52 pounds. Again.

I would LOVE to drop the dread and fear of this crazy cycle and maintain for 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, 10 years - with a range of 3 or 4 pounds at maintenance goal range instead of the 50 pound swing.

and what is it about the fear of those ...

and what is it about the fear of those last 5 - 10 pounds: approaching and MAINTAINING a goal weight?

I just read your comments on my blog. The frozen shoulder was one of the toughest things I have had to deal with. Luckily I "thawed" and have a good range of motion but I don't think it will ever be back to where it was. I decided, at least for the time being, I can deal with the torn labrum. There are certain strength exercises I'm not allowed to do but I'm functional and happy with that. I'm glad you thawed as well. emoticon

A Ragnar Relay Race is (usually) 12 runners (in the case of my team, all women) - we run 200 miles total, with each runner doing three "legs". In my case I will run 6 miles Friday morning, 6 miles Friday afternoon, and 3 miles in the wee hours of Saturday morning. It is a lot of fun, it is exhausting, and it is a great break from normal, everyday routine, and a chance to spend time with friends - sort of a rolling slumber party, endurance race, road-trip. I actually blogged about it if you want to visit my page and check it out. The races are held all over the country at different times of the year. The race I am doing is the "Northwest Passage" which takes place in the northwest corner of Washington state. It is very scenic. So, thanks for asking and now you know about crazy/hard/fun Ragnar. emoticon

Thank you, Laurie. "maintenance mode mentality" - that words it so well. I spark every day also, but so far have only used the trackers. Rosanna is a crazy woman blogger and good friend from Montreal, so I'm trying out actually being in contact with people instead of tracking in my own little bubble. one of these days she will show me how to add pictures to my page! emoticon

I read your message and would love to stay in touch. If I can support your efforts in any way just let me know. I Spark everyday. I'm still adjusting to maintenance mode mentality and so far things are going well. I just don't want to yo-yo anymore. emoticon

Oh!! Key ingredient!! Add a big spoonful of tomato paste - adds color and flavor to the soup :) emoticon
