Starting over again... October 5, 2010 Knee replacement day

1. My goal is to regain some of the stamina I had in "the olden days."
2.. Control my eating, portions. A never ending battle...
3. Drink lots of water with meals instead of Iced Tea.
4. Get up and move instead of sitting at the computer all day.
5. Eat healthy and not indulge in "poor me" treats.
6. Eat only when I am hungry, not when it is time to eat! Then STOP when I am starting to feel full.
7. Weigh in once a week on Wed.

I really want to get under 200 again! Was there once, and everything is easier in the 100's. I am having problems with staying motivated.


From when I joined sparkpeople....

I hate flying on airplanes! The seats are always too small. I always seem to get full flights and end up in the middle seat, since my husband always wants an aisle seat. The armrests really dig into my sides! I want to be able to fit in it, with the handrests in the down position and not feel pain. Getting under 200 will accomplish that goal. I did it once, last May 2008, now I have to do it again. The second time is more difficult.

Ready to start with good clean healthy eating.

Riding the bike or walking each day to get in some exercise. With my new knee I can walk again, as long as the weather cooperates.

NEW REVISED GOALS!

GOYAAM GOALS

1. Ride the Bike or walk outside 5-7 days/week.
2 Go to the gym and strength train at least twice a week.
3. Food: Eliminate the desserts at the buffets.
4. Try eating at home once or twice a week.
5. Stop eating when I am full. Or when I think I should be full.
6. Shoot for 200 min. and 2500 calories burned each week.

Long time Goal.

Same as last year, I want to take a LONG trip to celebrate losing some weight.

I feel I should lose before I take the next big trip! Why is it I can gain 3 lbs. a week, but can't LOSE 3 lbs. a week! Trying to get in some kind of decent shape so I can enjoy sight seeing again.

With my foot and knee problems it is going to be difficult.
Sore muscles seem to keep interfering with my cardio workouts.
But if I want the scale to move, I have to move.

Hopefully the knee replacement will solve some of the mobility problems.



*******Update***June 2008*****BACK FROM ITALY CRUISE*********

Yes cruise ship food is plentiful. I put off eating the cookies and pastries till the last days of the cruise and surprise ... they did not taste as good as they looked! All that denial, for nothing. If I had had one of those donuts or cinnamon rolls the first day I would not have had another. They looked wonderful, but did not taste that way, not worth the calories.

Now the gelato and ice cream in Italy, MUCH better than I ever imagined. And the cookies in Italy at the bakeries... Now THAT is another story. They were even better than I remembered them from childhood! At each stop, hubby sampled the local beer, and I sampled the local cookies! Seems silly to bring back things like chocolates and cookies to a cruise ship to eat, but that is what we did. Well, and some cherries also. The fruit on shore was divine! SO much better than the "normal" fruit on the ship. So the cruise ship food was not the problem, but the local food was. At least we managed to get a LOT of walking in each day. Scale on the ship was in KG and Stone, so did not show much of a difference from first to last day. *********

2009, I DID start to give away the "Fat Clothes." Seemed like as soon as I gave them away to a secretary at my office, I started to gain weight. Strange isn't it. Have to work twice as hard to get the weight off again.)

I have worked to hard to lose this weight, and my knees can't support me if I gain it back. The achilles tendonitis flared up Dec. 2008 and has really put a damper on exercising. Rest is all the doctor says, that is the only "cure." Hard to break this exercise habit. When I CAN walk, I have trouble being motivated. When told I CAN'T walk, it is all I want to do!

I KNOW it is easy to relapse. Easy to slide backwards into the old ways. I have gained almost 10 lbs so far, and I know it is easy to slip.

I joined sparkpeople was to get under 200 by the end of Dec. 2007, it took till May 6, almost 6 months MORE! Now I have to work on losing the weight again.

One pound at a time. 8 hours of cardio equals ONE pound! At least that is how it is SUPPOSED to work! I have been exercising every day, just like on TV, and hopefully keep the scale moving the right direction.

***MAY 21, 2008**** 50 POUNDS GONE! CURRENT WEIGHT 196**** This was my all time low on Sparkpeople. Now almost a year lately I have yet to see this on the scale again.
2010 New Year, same old me!

The Thanksgiving and Xmas season has taken it's toll. I have gained. I really have to focus on the exercise more, eat less philosophy!

2010 is upon us! My 2010 year goal is to get into size 14/16 normal sized clothes.

Having the achilles tendonitis problem with my foot is a problem. Constant pain when I try to walk is really getting me down, and my weight up.

Tried resting, exercising, tried Physical Therapy, ultrasound, laser treatments, stretching, tried Dynasplint, tried anti inflammatory drugs. Tried casting. Tried shock wave therapy. Nothing has really worked. Hubby wants me to try acupuncture. I don't know about that. Getting tired of throwing money at this problem. With low chance of success I don't know if surgery is an option. The long recovery time, will just make me even fatter, so I am more afraid of that than the complications that might result!

Will have to try and lose weight to see if it helps any. Doctor said no, but what does he know?

My Goals:
I am need to get in the habit of daily gym workouts.

I love to eat, so extra cardio is the only way I am going to be able to lose weight.

We eat out almost every day in casinos, freebies or using our points. The buffets have lots of veggies, but they also have limited portion control features. It has been really difficult lately.

We are also traveling a LOT for casino promotions. Traveling more now than at any previous time in my life. Time away from home is not helping my weight loss efforts. Too much eating out.

My goal is to get under 200 lbs. and travel the world!

LIFE BEGINS IN ONEDERLAND!

My Program:
Get in some cardio each week. Mostly biking or the Octane at the gym.. Burn calories each week thru exercise.

Lose at least ONE pound each and every week till I hit that goal! THIS is the most difficult part of the whole program. My body doesn't seem to know it is supposed to let go of this FAT!

Personal Information:
I live in Henderson, Nevada. I am a Realtor, and business is really difficult right now. My knee problem was out of countrol so I had a knee replacment Oct. 5, 2010. I was hesitant to do at this point in my life, but unless I wanted to live in a scooter there was no other option, done Oct. 5, 2010.

I have to do something to turn this gaining thing around. Exercising, or the lack of it, is not enough. I have to control portion sizes, and eating!

Other Information:
I am married and lately I weigh 15 lbs. more than my Husband. He has gained along with me over the last year.

But my husband is VERY fit, and exercises almost every day. Riding his Mountain bike in the hills around our home. He was hit bya truck last August and that put him back a bit, but he is well on the road to recovery.

Of course he counteracts this with his Beer drinking. Only the best Ale for my hubby!

I know what to do.. I have to stay a little hungry all the time to lose any weight. I also have to exercise to burn more than I consume!

Easier said than done, but the consequences of not doing anything is to weigh over 300 lbs.!
