I am 100% with you on the fruits and veggie likes and dislikes!! That's why it is so hard! Since we learned with my DH's diagnosis many yrs. ago, I developed Diabetes as well even though I was eating and cooking for him and with him. I still gained and had the onset as well.
Some times the body just can't get or understand what it's suppose to do and keeps the BS high thus the A1C is high. One friend I have is a Type 2 that is a brittle diabetic and now on an insulin pump. She was absolutely a perfectionist on her diet. Do the best you can as work with your Dr. as far as the meds that work for you. You may need to try several before it's controlled that way the Dr. wants it and the way they affect you. There is a brand new drug on the market (can't remember the name). Maybe that one is the key for you. Just some thoughts. Hang in there. You will get there!!!
It's hard to figure out the carbs but you will get used it it eventually and it will become 2nd nature. I think you can go back and get help. I know my DH was told to return if he couldn't figure it out. The bad thing is fruits are full of natural sugars thus are high in carbs so that throws one off right away. Veggies are great and part of what we are needing to eat here on SP too. You will get it, I know you will. It just takes a little time. Good luck and best wishes!! I will be keeping you in my thoughts!!
