Hi from the trail! June 1, 2016 and all is well. Thrilled to be back at it!
Hooping, Yoga, walking Sugar and lots of gardening are keeping me in good shape!

My focus today is on health and wellness, family, friends and spiritual growth. I've chosen to have my page reflect my life today; pictures from 10-16 years ago are quite different and are scattered through my gallery. Life is good!
Interests: I enjoy home yoga practice, but my main activity is still with my walking with my dog "Sugar"! She's from a rescue and has flourished since I adopted her. She's worth her weight in gold because she makes me laugh! She's also a great motivator to get out for a one to three mile walk every day. She has been a real gift to me and my health.
October 2010, we adopted Xena as a kitten; she's livened up our household considerably and keeps tabs on my indoor "spark" walks! By 2011 walking has become a primary fitness activity for me; as I entered 2012 hooping had become a close second. 2013 has been a year of major yard changes and gardening activity! 2014 a lot of energy was put into fixing up my house and adding more gardens. Alas, 2015 did bring some health issues that slowed me down a bit; but have not stopped me! I have given up yoga classes but continue to practice at home where I can pace myself. 2016 I've regained a lot of strength and continue to improve. Whatever challenges are put in your way; never give up on a healthy lifestyle! I'm back working in the yard and gardens again and loving it!
Time with my family and friends and indoor "walk -n- talks" on the phone are my other primary activities. Maintaining my home and yard and gardening keep me busy. Yard and gardening spring through the fall sometimes takes the place of other fitness activities. Reading, sewing and crafts when I have time; keeping busy never a problem! Finding more time sometimes is.
I just keep growing and changing in healthy ways; life is good!

Thanks! I believe you were my first friend on this site! I was impressed with your tale of the Mutt Strut you took part in! I do not understand Facebook and only have a few friends there, mostly relatives and the other site on which I post is for a computer game I play (which I haven't played in a year due to what is termed "real life" issues!

I have no idea whether you see my replly to your comment on my blog so I am posting it here as well (or trying to--my first attempt went who knows where!)
Hi, Joy! It was you who first introduced me to the idea of "functional fitness"! The Weight Shifting my PT gave me to do is something my grandmother did while waiting at the bus stop when we'd go downtown (to Washington, D.C.) when I was a child! That was more decades ago than I can count! As for Sugar, you are lucky to have such a faithful exercise buddy! I have read that dogs are quite helpful in that department! I have had the pleasure of the company of some cats who liked to fetch and shake paws, but not a one of them wanted to wear a leash so no walking with them! Thanks again for all of your support!

thank you as always for posting on my BLOGS. Yes it was a hot one but I did recover well and am relaxing tonight.
When I started out, there were many clouds with a breeze so it didn't seem bad at all but when the clouds cleared is when the heat started to affect me.
Only the last half mile was a bit difficult but I pushed forward and once in a while stopped for a minute under a shade tree to take a few breaths. I can tell you that it was the most enjoyable cold shower I have ever felt when I got home.
Tomorrow the weather will be the same but I will be more cautious and shorten my distance accordingly.
My husband did want to know why I didn't call him to pick me up but as you have already guessed, I am very stubborn.
Thanks for caring hon.

Hi! You made your own hula hoops?!! Wow! Care to share the How To Do Its? Please! I bought clear tubing to use for color mixing when I was teaching art--do you think that would work or perhaps it's too flexible. I'm sure I can find some easily at this time of the year but I just haven't had time to look. Tomorrow, I have to have an MRI for documentation for my injured knee (tripped over some unsecured computer cords at work--and they weren't fixed until the next day!) and I have PT sessions scheduled for Wednesday so who knows how I'll feel (better though, but this is really organized exercise for me)!
