How I got here:

I am a memeber of an online rebates site called MyPoints. You read advertising e-mails and make purchases through member merchants for points which you redeem for gift cards at hundreds of web and "real" merchants.

On August 19, 2008 I woke up thinking how bleak and limited my life had become because of my weight. There are so many things I love that I simply couldn't do anymore, and I had given up on a lot of my dreams.

Then I got out of bed and checked my e-mail. MyPoints had sent me something about SparkPeople. I checked it out, and signedup (for the extra 25 points) not expecting to ever get results.

Well, I'm getting better results than I had ever imagined, so I have decided to stick around and go public.

For the first time in years I am dreaming again.

Other Information:
I am single, youngest of five, the only girl, and a former school teacher who left my job to move back home when my mom's health started declining. I am now living with my parents and doing the chores she can't handle (laundry, shopping, anything outside or up and down stairs). I also work part time at a customer service call center and hope to start substitute teaching soon.

I appreciate your comments and I've too added you as a friend. We're all in this struggle together and it's not an easy one. I've learned so much listening to others opinions that the more I read and the more friends I have, have helped me keep going and learning beyond my own means. It's a good thing! ;)

Thank you for stopping by to comment on my "What's Your Reason" post. I am happy to hear reasons beyond unhealthy self-absorbtion. Positive attitude is one thing, but pro-ana is a leap in the other direction. (Glad to see that SparkPeople are very aware of those other dangers.)

Joisiee, this comment really resonated with me: " I will either gorge myself on grapefruit and then eat a whole bag of Hershey's kisses or give up entirely and eat my way to an early grave."

I sometimes think that I could just give up and become the size where I have to be winched out of bed by a fire crew. And it usually coincides with a time where I want something 'off-plan' and won't allow myself one. I feel like that now, so I'm going to have a portion-controlled treat, even though it will knock me 40 cals over my limit for the day.
