Ma-na-Ma-na!

I live to laugh. Laughter and positivity really can help you through those pain-filled days, along with Spark pals and loved ones.

I have a rare disease (Erythromelalgia) that affects my life daily, and has sent me into a funk for far too long! I joined Spark in April of 2011 and LOVE the support and resources. I will get back my healthy life, no matter what illness I live with.

I'm hoping to stay active regardless, get my toosh moving, and hopefully inspire others as ...

My Goals:
1. Live for each day. TRULY. You just don't know when your health will wander off to some secret place. Note to self: find out where it went!

2. Get my emotional eating off my mind and re-learn better behavior around food. Update 9/6/11: Still a day to day battle, but I have tools and Spark friends to FIGHT!

3. Cheer on anyone who needs it. I'll bust out some virtual pom poms and try to motivate you since I am getting support from Spark myself! Woo Woo!

4. Run in the rain with a healed foot - woohoo!

My Program:
I work out 5-6 days a week (currently) via low impact/no impact exercises with my EM and CRPS, and try to not push both into red line pain for me.

I stick to a healthy low refined carb, low sugar, low fat and high protein lifestyle for 6 days a week and try relax a bit on Saturdays.

Personal Information:
GOOFBALL. Be warned!

Other Information:
I looooove monkeys!!! Does that count as interesting???

I'm pretty curmudgeon about fireworks late at night too, lol, though it's because my kids are sleeping and my dog loses his mind when they go off. It's one of the few times I feel my age and sense that my maturity level has in fact increased over the years. :P :D Keep on smiling, Bren, hope you have a great week!

WooHoo! Day 3! Way to go! Success breeds success. As we learn to control our urges sometimes, we will learn to control them longer and longer. We can totally do this!

The book, "The Plan" by Lyn-Genet Recitas and the blood type diet really changed my life and the way I eat forever. I felt so much better after I got rid of dairy, sugar, and gluten. I never knew all the little problems it caused in my body. We get used to feeling crappy all the time. Once you get your system cleaned up, it feels so good, you don't want to ever go back. When I do eat reactive/inflammatory foods, I feel so horrible and regret it every time. So it's easy to stay on track with my clean diet.

Once I learned about body chemistry, the blood type diet made a lot of sense to me. I'll send you the link to the blood type food data base. I use it as a guideline, but it doesn't hold all the answers. I just continue to learn more about nutrition, and figure out what works for my own body's chemistry. There is no one-size-fits-all diet. I've been working at this steadily since 2002, and I'm still making nutritional mistakes. It's a life-long uphill battle.

Good luck in your journey!
