My Greatest Battle of All!

After almost a year of struggling I am back to my lifesaving tracking! I am not going to say 'this time...' because that time started the moment I joined Sparkpeople. Baby steps first of all, making sure my health issues are under control and a 'never-give-up' attitude are my companions.

Update 04/30/13 After being diagnosed with thyroid cancer, a week ago I had a surgery. I am back on track and continuing to lose weight with all the support I am receiving from wonderful people like you. I have come a long way, and it's been only 10 months since I started. Not to mention that there was a two-month-long setback during that period. I have lost about 45lbs and I wish I could lose just as much in the months to come. But even if it goes more slowly I am proud of myself and the changes I have made in my everyday life. Facing cancer has been one of the most significant experiences I've ever had. I am in the pr kgocess of re-establishing priorities and determined to keep living a good and fulfilling life. Serving others is one of these priorities. Loving more. Complaining less. In the weeks to come I will undergo further check-ups and treatments but I am truly grateful for every single day I have on this Earth with my family & friends!
........................................
.....
I started my journey with 277.7 pounds! Since I can remember, I have been on the 'chubby' side and I don't really know what it looks like to be extra-weight free and happy with what you look like.

Util I moved to the US I had lost 30.8 lbs with SP and my goal is to lose about 90 pounds altogether. When we came here we simply felt helpless to resist all the wonderful varieties of food offered at every corner. I gained back 9 lbs in just two months!
I'm glad my sobriety prevailed at the beginning of December . Got back on track. Started regular exercises. every day is a good day for long-lasting resolutions and setting goals! I want a major change in my life.
SP is a really great site with a lot of supportive people, so I am certain I can make it!.

Starting all over again, I decided to start tracking my lbs instead of kilos.

250 lbs 03/16/2014
247 lbs 03/19/2014
241 lbs 06/21/2014

My Program:
*Track calories every day. Be accountable for every single bite of food (or drink) that gets into my mouth!
*NEVER skip fitness minutes.
* Plan, plan, plan!!!
*NO carbonated drinks, juices, sweets and candies.
*Bread down to minimum, a slice or two weekly and never a white one.
* NO MORE fried food in this house!
*Fruit and vegetables always handy.

Personal Information:
I am 40 years old, and I'm a wife of 20 years, a mother of two (middle school) boys, a Christian, and working full-time. A woman who has lots of everything (including weight!) so I'm willing to share love and shed pounds... and maybe ... if I get rid of this weight soon enough dare to give birth to one more baby :)

Other Information:
I moved to the US with my family in September 2012 and joined a gym. After going astray & 'diving' into the wonderful calorie loaded American food, three months later I CAME BACK to my own senses!
I love group exercise and try to do body pump whenever I can. I really love strength training, but lots of it makes my knees hurt badly, so I keep it moderate. The scale moves slowly but I hope that one day my story too will be the success story of a SP member!

I see your Spark Friend, GWENAEL is The Motivator of the Day. What an honor. emoticon

I hope you are doing well with your blood pressure. I've learned a lot from "The Diabetes Solution" by Richard Bernstein M.D. & his lectures on YouTube. He explains that all obese people are Insulin Resistant and can benefit from Metformin to help with weight loss. He's had Type 1 diabetes since he's been 12 and he is a healthy 78 now.

"Sometimes victory seems so far away because we measure it only by the goal. And end goals can seem overwhelmingly huge, daunting, and just plain hard to reach. But if we start measuring our victories by the smaller choices we make each day, victory won't seem so impossible.....
It's amazing the chain reaction that can start in your life with just one good choice.
Big things are built one brick at a time.
Victories are achieved one choice at a time.
A life well lived is chosen one day at a time.
Oh sweet friend, you are closer than you think to victory!"

Be your own hero, one choice and one step at a time! You might not see visible signs of progress right away, but as long as you keep doing your best, you will make progress and you will be victorious! I'm rooting for you! Remember, you're worth your best effort!
Hugs,
Pixie
