Spring Into A Slimmer Summer

Welcome Spring!! Looking forward to summer! I am ready for change. I keep failing at reaching my weight loss goals, but plan to change that this spring and summer!

Hi. I'm Melissa. I am blind, but don't let that little inconvenience bother me, well not too much at least! I am ready for the Spring 5% challenge and the BLC 25 so I can get help reaching those important goals that will get me to that slimmer summer!

My Goals:
My goal for my Spring 5% Weight Loss Challenge is to lose 9 pounds in 8 weeks. With BLC 25 I plan to lose 12 pounds over the 12 weeks. This should not be a problem, but it has been for me time and time again. I have new plans and strategies this time!

My Program:
I am going to employ cognitive therapy techniques to help myself think myself thin. I do believe that changing the way you think will change the way you feel and act. I am going to use cognitive behavioral techniques as outlined by Judith Beck. I also will:
*Get my 8 cups of water in daily
*Go to Curves 3X/Week unless I change gyms and then I will go to the gym 3X/week
*Get my 5 veggies in daily plus 2 fruits
*Keep within my calorie range
*Truly employ the techniques I learn from Judith Beck

Personal Information:
I am totally blind as a result of Type 1 Diabetes and living the wild life in my younger days! I celebrated 44 years of being diabetic this May. I live in lovely South VA and have a wonderful husband and anew puppy named Sassy. She is a handful, but I know it will all be worth it!

Other Information:
I love reading and especially enjoy psychological thrillers, mysteries, stories featuring dogs and the occasional occult novel like Stephen King or Dean Koontz. I was an avid belly dancer, but have only recently started to dance again since my mother's death! I enjoy water! I love swimming, water aerobics, water jogging and more! I walk a mile with leslie Samsone everyday and sometimes more. I actually enjoy exercising! I love summer and am and anxiously awaiting its return!! But, I can do my water aerobics and aqua Zumba at the Y! I also try to make it to Curves at least 3 times a week and do the Curves Smart program which pushes me to improve my workout each time! Plus I am an avid follower of Jessica Smith's video workouts!

Thx for reading my blog. I don't like pb, it is for my kids. Nutella is super sweet, it is like eating chocolate which I am not a big fan of...but thanks for the info. My husband buys the natural pb. I am doing the healthy cooking challenge with SP and it "sparked" my organizing part of my body. It helped me take inventory! So very nice;-)

Namaste is done at the end of a yoga class while sitting crossed legged with hands at heart (prayer shaped). The instructor says it and the students say it back as a sign of respect, peace and linkage to eachother. Here is a link that explains it very nicely.
