Leaves Won't Be The Only Thing Dropping This Fall...

Pounds will be dropped as well!!

Hi, my name is Melissa. I'm nearing 50 years old and I am totally blind. I lost my sight due to Type 1 Diabetes, but I don't let that little inconvenience get me down much! I am an adjunct professor of psychology at my local community college and a licenced profressional counselor. Since joining SP in 2008 I've lost 20 pounds. Yes, I am losing slowly, but I'm losing!

My Goals:
I am involved in 2 SP challenges this fall! I am doing the Fall 5% Challenge as well as BLC26! My weight loss goal for the 5% challenge is 8.6 pounds and for BLC 26 is 12 pounds. About a pound a week for both and I think that is doable!

My Program:
I am a member of Weight Watchers now and it is working for me. I also plan to do every challenge within my 2 challenges to the best of my ability to build healthy habits that will last!

Personal Information:
I am totally blind as a result of Type 1 Diabetes and living the wild life in my younger days! I "celebrated" 45 years of being diabetic this May. I live in lovely South VA and have a wonderful husband and spoiled mutt named Sassy. She is a handful, but it is worth it!

Other Information:
I love reading and especially enjoy psychological thrillers, mysteries, stories featuring dogs and the occasional occult novel like Stephen King or Dean Koontz. I am an avid belly dancer, but have only recently started to dance again since my mother's death on 12/12/12! I still have not gotten back into belly dancing mostly due to transportation problems since my dad had a stroke in 2013 and he was my ride! I enjoy water! I love swimming, water aerobics, water jogging and more! I walk a mile with leslie Samsone everyday and sometimes more. I actually enjoy exercising! I love summer!! I also try to make it to Curves at least 3 times a week and do the Curves Smart program which pushes me to improve my workout each time! Plus I am an avid follower of Jessica Smith's video workouts!

Hi Melissa, thanks so much for your comment on my blog about remembering my Missy. I really appreciate the support of my animal loving friends! I am glad also that you are finding the grief emails helpful... they are helping me too. On both good and rough days, I have to continually turn my attention back to the Lord, who is the source of all healing and comfort. Plus, I fully expect to see my Missy in heaven again one day... after she passed, the Lord led me to many Scriptures that support that expectation. So it does give me some comfort to think of this as a temporary separation, just like I believe you will have your baby Jack back again too. I'm so sorry that you can't look at pictures of Jack... most of us take the simple things for granted... hopefully you can try to remember other things about him that can give you some good memories and comfort. Thanks so much for your support, Melissa... I know you understand my pain. Many Hugs, Karen
