Shared Fitness Tracker
Hello! I am a teacher-turned-stay-at-home-mom in suburban St. Louis. My son William was born in April 2016; it only took about 4 months to lose the baby weight. However, now I need to focus on the weight I gained while I was teaching. Lots of stress and a hectic workload contributed to some poor choices and many extra pounds. Now, I'm ready to make some positive changes!
Drop the 70 pounds or so that I have gained since I started teaching (most of which came in the last couple of years).
~ Tracking my food intake as diligently as possible. Even when I'm not behaving. ;)
~ Tracking my exercise, which includes walking in my neighborhood with my husband, son and dog; using our indoor rowing machine, biking when the weather is decent, using workout DVDs, and doing strength training, yoga, and stretching routines.
~ Wearing my Spark People Activity Tracker. I really try to shoot for 10000 steps, but my daily SP goal is a more realistic 7500.
I live in the St. Louis, MO, area with my husband Matt, our son Will, and our dog, Sandy.
I love sports (Royals, Chiefs, Cardinals, Blues, Rams, Mizzou Tigers, Missouri State Bears), politics, and reading books that help my personal growth without being too New Age-y.

I saw your comments on being a reading teacher and have to say you have a hard job. I hated school back when I went in the 50s/60s because I was an "A" student who had to sit in a class with boys who couldn't read. Back then if you were 10, then you HAD to be in 4th grade no matter how smart you were, no going ahead to where you were academically. So, I'm glad today that those kids who can't read and need next help get taken to a reading teacher, and I'm glad there are Magnet Schools (at least here in Pensacola) where if you are a gifted student you can go and be with other kids who are working at your level. I always remembered what my First Grade teacher, Mrs. Erb told me "Honey, if you want to be a good reader, then you have to read A LOT every day." I had my children start learning the Dolch reading list when they were two years old.
