It sounds like you had a very active childhood and a very wise father. I have found since retired that I am beginning to re-discover my childhood. Yes, I still have responsibilities but I am much more relaxed about them. S-l-o-w-l-y I am doing many of the things I did as child--like walking. Once I get more weight gone I hope to do more swimming, maybe find someone to learn and play tennis with me, and maybe putt around a game of golf occasionally. I was very active throughout most of my life but between ages 30-50 I was consumed by work and my family to the point I had no time for me. Discovering that aspect of retirement has been a joy.
Did I also say unsweetened applesauce? I guess that that would help up the blood sugar with all the carbs-need to talk to a dietician to see what would be bland enough for you and not spike your blood sugar
