UPDATE (08/2013): While it's true, I am still a very private person; being here on SP has helped me to open up some. My confidence is growing and I've found so many wonderful friends who support and encourage me. I'm gaining more than I bargained for by joining SP. All I can say to someone new reading this is jump right on in and be active. You'll discover some pretty wonderful things!

Original Intro (02/2011): I'm here because I need to be. I'm a very private person who needs to make a change. I was always very fit and active - never really had a problem there. But, in college, I was diagnosed with a hereditary thyroid disorder and managed to gain 60 pounds right before my wedding despite diet and lots of activity (volleyball, flag football, archery and swimming). It wasn't exactly inspiring. I spent the final fitting for my gown in tears. That was nearly 20 years ago.

Knowing that there's a reason for the weight gain is of little comfort and doesn't make the loss any easier. Since the initial gain, I've been busy with graduate school, family and work. But, now, my most recent blood work has been a new wake call for me. I need to stop pretending I'll be okay and stop making everyone else the top priority. My thyroid is getting worse; but that's easily treatable. What worries me more are the results that indicate I'm on the fast track to heart problems and diabetes.

So, I'm too embarrassed to go to the gym. Like I said I'm very private and was very fit in the past. I think I'm much better when I've got to be accountable. So, I'm starting here and making myself available and accountable. We'll see how it goes...

Hi. I'm loving the free books from the web site you told me about. As I get more use to my eReader, I want to read with it instead of regular books more and more. I didn't expect that.

Yes, the Kindle Fire tells you how much % of the book is read but on the last one I read, it said 87% done and when I turned the page, it said the end. They were counting all the advertising of other books at the end! I was not amused! LOL

Hi Chris, no problems with cycling thankfully and he dutifully did the first set of exercises just now- no problem....but I reckon in about an hour he's gonna feel it.
Have warned him, and he did ice it.........but I remember when I was doing similar exercises on my shoulder (okay it was for rotator but none the less) I ached like mad for a couple of hours.
He's got to repeat tonight so I reckon do them after dinner so the inflammation has time to settle before bedybyes!
