Heather's Quest for Health

I am working on getting myself into better shape. I am 30 and I am planning a wedding for August of 2016 and I want to lose weight not only so I can look good in my wedding dress, but also so I can live a long, healthy life with my new husband. I have tried diets in the past, but could not stick with them. I realize that what I need is a lifestyle change, not a diet and I know SparkPeople can help me with that.

My Goals:
Get my exercise induced asthma under control so I can workout harder and longer.

Get back down to a healthy weight so I can do more of the things I enjoy.

Feel confident that I look good when I walk down the aisle at my wedding.

Make healthier eating choices to improve my overall health and build up my immune system.

To strengthen my core to relieve back pain and headaches.

My Program:
I have joined Planet Fitness and try to make it there at least 3 times per week. On days where it doesn't fit my schedule, I still try to get in a workout by taking my dogs for a walk.

Integrating more fruits and vegetables, and whole grains into my diet, and getting my protein from lean sources.

Substituting low calorie, low sugar flavored water for carbonated beverages.

Making use of the food and fitness trackers on SparkPeople to ensure I am meeting my nutritional and fitness related goals.

Personal Information:
I am Heather, and I live in Michigan.

My fiance has agreed to join me on this journey and it has made all the difference. We have each other to help with motivation and we encourage each other to make healthier choices and to workout even if we are not feeling up to it at first. Even when feeling under the weather, we get in at least 20 minutes. I tried this before in the past, and never saw the same success as I have seen since we started doing this together. He's my rock.

Other Information:
I am an animal lover, and I think that anyone who needs motivation to get more active should get a puppy. They really keep you on your toes and they have so much energy that it is contagious. They won't let you fall into a sedentary lifestyle. They will have you playing fetch, tug-a-war, and taking long walks and they will still have energy to burn.

Hope you are doing well,, shoveling snow burns calories.. not the fun way, but it DOES burn them! !Do you have to shovel snow?
