The Time is NOW!

The time is now! Time to start living a healthier lifestyle and set realistic goals. Time to quit worrying about the TV schedule and be more active. Time to get back to the person and lifestyle I know will take care of myself and not lead to poor health later. I've reached my goals before but slowly slipped into poor choices and larger sizes - time to focus on me!

My Goals:
Live healthier through better eating and more activity!

My Program:
Be active with something 3-4 times a week.

Personal Information:
I'm from Knoxville TN.

Other Information:
I love being outside! I enjoy just about anything active - snow skiing, wakeboarding, water skiing, hiking, roller blading, spending time with friends or family, walking the dog or playing softball. I've always been active and never felt challenged by regular outdoor activities. I do have a hard time going to a gym, I'd rather be outside with scenery and activity. I also love UT football, GO VOLS!

Clover hugs are better than regular hugs because they contain 4 times the heart, more fiber and fewer calories!

Spark on!

I bought a fit bit zip in February 2013 and love it! It's accurate, tiny and easy to manage. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to track their steps to help in their activity levels!!! emoticon

I got a FitBit Ultra mainly for the sleep tracking feature. Since I rarely get to bed at a 'reasonable' hour, I was curious as to my quality and quantity of sleep. I usually wake up a couple times a night for potty breaks, but I was surprised to find that, according to the FitBit, I was "waking" up 4-6 times. I'm not sure how it determines when we are 'awake' or 'asleep', but I presume that it has to do with arm movement (the FitBit is put in a holder that is strapped to your wrist). I like knowing how long it takes me to get to sleep, how long I've slept, and what my sleep efficiency is.

As a bonus, it tracks my steps, and activity during the day, giving me an estimate as to how many calories I've burned doing the day.

When I went back and loaded the FitBit data to my fitness tracker, I did find that activities such as painting and washing walls don't register quite right. Having timed the actual work, I found that FitBit counted about half the minutes as being active. I clip my FitBit to my bra, so I figured that activity that uses mostly arms should add up fairly accurately as opposed to having it clipped to my waistband, but that seems to be not true. I guess that I will just watch and double check minutes for such activities.

I hope this information helps you to decide.
