I started really focusing on the Spark People program on April 20, 2008 to loose weight and get into better physical shape. Between then and Early August 2008, I lost about 20 pounds, and feel better and stronger.

Over the next year, the weight came back on. I thought it was simply due to lack of exercise and being lax about my food intake, but it turns out there is a problem with my Thyroid hormone system and it's effect on my metabolism. Even with a 1200 cal per day diet for a couple of weeks there would be no downward movement on the scale.
Now I am taking a bit of synthetic T4 and T3 pills daily. My nutritionist just increased my dose of T3.

Last week I started exercising every other day (about a half hour) and got strict with my intake again - including increasing the water. I have lost 1.9 lbs. That is impressive to me. I may be back in the zone again!

My first goal: down to 145 lbs.
Reward: if achieved by 2/20/10 - a new cricket pack
otherwise something nice, but less expensive

Second goal: 140 lbs.
Reward: new jeans and an interesting caving trip (& the cricket pack if not already obtained)

Third goal: 135 lbs
Reward: a physical vacation
