I joined SparkPeople in December 2006. Since joining I've wanted to lose my weight and have been just going through the motions with no real commitment. Now I'm recommitting myself in 2012 to do what I need to do in order to be Thinner and Healthier ... TO BE A BETTER ME!!!
It's a New Year ... New Outlook ... to a New Me!!!
My main goals are to become more healthy and lose weight in the process, too...Smile!!! My plan is to pay closer attention to what I'm eating and start exercising since I've been quite the couch potato...Smile!!!
In April '13, 2013 I purchased a new gadget called the "FITBIT ONE." It's a glorified pedometer with some great bells and whistles! I really like it! Wearing it everyday has given me a lot of incentive and motivation (which I really needed) to try and to do as well as I can each day to achieve my goals. Some days, of course, I'm able to do much better (I struggle with chronic gout...ouch...arg!) than others, which is OK! Here is a daily list which Fitbit provides that I can view online to help me stay in check and keep an eye on my progress at any given moment on the Fitbit Website! It's easy and only takes just a moment to SYNC to find out this info. I think you�ll be amazed�be sure to check Fitbit out at: www.fitbit.com/

MOTIVATION: HOW TO STAY YOUNG
... AND ALWAYS REMEMBER - Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take,
but by the moments that take our breath away.
1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height.
2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.
3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. 'An �idle mind is the devil's workshop.'
4. Enjoy the simple things.
5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath and your belly hurts.
6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with us our entire life is �ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.
7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, �whatever. Your home is your place. Do with it what YOU want�
8. Cherish your health. If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can �improve, get help from someone who looks healthy and fit.
9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to �where the guilt is.

SWEET N' SALTY SNACK IDEAS
1. Identify the foods you crave the most and do not bring them in the house.
2. Take about 200 to 300 calories of your daily calorie . allowance food and make snacks. I suggest making a plate using cucumber or sliced tomato as the base, take a slice of deli turkey or ham and put a small square on it, top with FF free cheese, a cheese slice cut up small, a dab of FF salad dressing--be creative and make em pretty. Garnish with a slice of olive, sprig of parsley--whatever. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, whatever--its your snack. Every time you go to the fridge, take one. This makes a large plate of snacks--at least 20.
3. Make a sugar free jello, you can eat the whole thing. Add a dab of FF Reddi Whip Cream spray
4. Make a sugar free pudding, like butterscotch, Use FF milk, top with a dusting of cinnamon and a dab of FF Reddi whip if desired. 4 servings--but eat the whole thing in 4 sittings...
5. Eat Sugar-free popsicles, only 15 calories a piece and you can have several.
6. Make a 100 calorie popcorn
7. 14 reduced fat Triscuits--nice substitute for potato chips.
