COMMITMENT...DRIVE...MOTIVATION....

My name is Janice (alias Granie Janie to my grand children) I will be 65 in August of 2009.
I have three wonderful daughters who are married and have given me three great sons-in-law and 8 super grandchildren.

My #1 hobby is GENEALOGY, I have found some very intersting facts about my ancestors. I love Master Piece Theater, Gardening, and reading Historical Romance novels.

I have learned over the years that I have an "All or Nothing mind set " if everything is not working perfectly then I want to give up. Which Is what I did many times, not only with losing weight but other projects I would start!! "Oh well, I had a bad day I'm not going to make it happen so might as well give up." I am reminded of Dr. Phil when he says "Hows that working for you?" NOT!!

1985 I lost down to 198 lbs, Yea!! I was under 200 but that didn't last . Any way, over the years my weight went up and down until I reached my highest weight of 338. I was to the point of being afraid to start a "diet" and lose any weight just to quit and gain it back plus more. I didn't trust myself.

I was diagonised with type 2 diabetes in May 2007 and decided to work on controling my blood sugar with diet and exercise. I am proud to say I lost 70 lbs, by changing my eating habits and following the diabete guidelines for diet. I knew it could work but I never got around to starting an exercise program.
BUTTTT!!!! then I fell off the wagon between October 2008 and MAY 2009, gained 20lbs. I knew I was gaining but had some how lost my motavation. I was mindlessly eating what ever I wanted, being very self indulgant, now that is just plain crazy considering I had dibeties.

When I came home from a check up on May 1st after finding out that 10 of those 20lbs were gained from Feb to May, I knew I had to do something because I was not going to gain that weight back again!!!

I got on the computer did a search for free meal planing and found SparkPeople. That was my lucky day!! SparkPeople has everything I have been searching for in a website that helps with motavation, tracking weight and exercise.

I feel I will get the support and encouragement I need from SparkPeople.

I read this great article today" Mastering the Mysteries of Motavation." I love this quote from the article.

"Therefore, the main "enemy" of motivation is the tendency to see yourself as the hapless victim of forces (or urges) over which you have no control" Dean Anderson SparkPeople

EQUALLY GOOD Quote from part 2:

"When you do something different than what you think you should do, understand that this was also your choice." Dean Anderson Spark People

Things aren't likely to happen by themselves; you're going to have to exert some kind of influence for things to get moving.

May 16
Spread that variety to your diet with a healthy dose of different-colored fruits and vegetables. The food will taste great, and the presentation will be more lively.

Orange oranges, peppers, carrots, peaches
Yellow apples, peppers, bananas, corn
Red apples, peppers, tomatoes, strawberries
Purple blueberries, grapes
Green peppers, kiwi, broccoli, peas, leafy greens
White cauliflower, water chestnuts

May 20th making a few adjustments to my goals!!

If you don't agree with what the group is doing today, don't feel like you have to join in just to be a part of the collective, Janice. Earn their respect in your own way, not by forcing yourself into a mold that you don't fit into. Maintain your integrity and act with confidence and assuredness. If you are confident about yourself
and your actions, then other people will put their confidence in you. Don't compromise your beliefs for the sake of matching the energy of others.

Don't focus on how much remains to be done; focus instead on each individual task that must be done. Prioritize, economize, work hard.

Accomplishing your long-term goals might seem like an impossible task now as you face the simple reality of where you are in your life. But there's no time for self-pity; you have important work to do today. You have a small window of opportunity, so don't waste any time. Acknowledge what isn't working and make whatever changes are necessary to get back on track.

"There are really only two dimensions to the concept of attitude--you either behave as though you are a victim of circumstance, or you take full responsibility of your situation."~Richard Rudd

"The most basic and powerful way to connect to another person is to listen. Just listen. Perhaps the most important thing we ever give each other is our attention...A loving silence often has far more power to heal and to connect than the most well-intentioned words."~Rachel Naomi Remen

"God, grant me the Motivation to get off the couch and MOVE. The will power to navigate a world of fried, sugary, fatty, salty temptations. The peace of mind to not stress about the numbers on a scale. And the Common Sense to chose food for fuel and accept myself as I am." ~Unknown {also borrowed from fellow Sparker, SPARKPIXIE}
