Traveling a bumpy road!

So much has happened to me since I started SP April 9th 2010. I've lost weight of course and regained some, I've learned to stop eating when full and I've made some great spark friends. I'm sparking much of the time. Many know about my son's accident (6/17/2010)and the changes that has wrought on my life, my sister V�ronique's death (11/7/2012) due to a brain tumor and Vicky's congestive heart failure, diabetes and a host of other problems. I also have been blessed with a new grand-daughter in May 2013 for a total of 5 grand-daughters and 1 grandson-the first and eldest of the grands..

I try to keep smiling and stay positive-not always easy, but the good Lord helps. I love life from infancy to old age.
I retired May 25th, 2012.
My 5 children and 6 grandchildren are an important part of my life.

With the exception of my cholesterol levels and a mobile blood pressure I am relatively healthy. Both my son's care and my weight contribute the occasionally elevated blood pressure. My cholesterol has been high since I was in my 40's and I am allergic to statin drugs which limits what I can take for the cholesterol problem. (I am in gray in the first picture, and turquoise in the second)

My Goals:
1. track all of my foods, striving to get 5-8 fruits & veggies per day.
2. I will walk no LESS THAN 5,000 steps and work my way past 10,000.
3. to be more positive, and supportive to those around me, especially new widows.



My Program:
To watch what I eat, most importantly cutting back on cholesterol and sodium. Work to change a sedentary life into a more active life, which is difficult for me. Even though retired, I'm knitting and sewing more that makes for a still sedentary life.

Personal Information:
I was born in Bedford, Ohio of a Belgian mom and an American GI. I have lived in Belgium, Ohio, Florida and am currently in Georgia. I am widowed and have five grown children, one of whom had a traumatic brain injury June 2010 and for whom I am the court appointed Custodial Guardian.

Other Information:
I like to knit, sew-when I have time and play with my grandchildren.
I'd love to be able to travel again, to go back to Belgium and Austria, to see Ireland, Scotland, Switzerland and Italy.

Hope yesterday went well...I caved just a little with the night time munching but still within the total count and I knew it wasn't going to be easy. Today, there's a cousin coming, I've already logged my lunch, now I just need to stick to that!

It all just goes to show us that our brain is the muscle that needs the most of a work out. Part of why I had a bit of an issue with WW even though it worked for me but the WW plan at least for me and my brain is that it promoted a exercise to earn more points mentality and that's just fine but when schedule etc causes the exercise to go down, the eating habit doesn't. Oy...LOL

I guess our dentists will all be pleased with us!

Well, how you doin so far?

Last night, I got nearly to the end of my daily allotment with dinner so after tracking it I got up and went to brush my teeth (extra long) then a short walk and all the while wanting to eat something more, I kept thinking how I had about 180 left in the bank and what could I eat..LOL finally when I went to bed, still thinking about eating something else, I was really struggling so popped a halls cough drop in my mouth which helps with that post nasal drip thing and tastes so horrible it spoils the taste buds...fell asleep and woke at one thinking about getting up to find something to eat....sigh...but I thought about you and the track challenge and stuck to my guns. Hoping tonight is easier now that I did it one night successfully. Sheesh...I am really having to break some bad habits again! LOL

You're on! I even just went back to yesterday and added those things I ate last night after closing the computer. Arghhh....that's one of the things I have got to stop doing! I came in under my calorie limit but the fat was too high and this habit of noshing at night is just wrong! So...track it all...you got it!

Again I am reminded to say you are a gem of a friend. Thank you for keeping all in your thoughts and prayers. Hope you're well and enjoying life. I have had to be brutally honest with myself and have made a commitment to act as though I have just started this. I was getting all too comfortable with lax habits. sigh LOL
