I’m one of that rare breed: a native Floridian still living in Florida.

I’m a retired vet tech so I love nature: animals, oceans, beaches, forests, sailing; I also enjoy reading (a variety of genres but) mostly fantasy and nonfiction. Language and words are a joy to me, along with philosophy, theology, architecture, and arts in general. Personality typing (ie, Myers-Briggs) interests me (I’m INTx). And my DH of 37 years and I both enjoy model trains and our marine aquariums, and traveling around the state and lower southeast whenever possible.

I have a positive outlook, and am an inquisitive skeptic. I am spiritual but non-religious, and if pressed for a label would have to call myself eclectic pagan, leaning toward Druidism at the moment. When Christianity “failed” for me, I went on a search and have investigated a variety of other religions and cultural wisdoms, gleaning those which resonated with me and ignoring those which don’t.

I’m hoping to connect with others with similar goals, obstacles, and interests, and to encourage others to try the low-carb lifestyle. It’s an uphill battle, since our government and big-ag still have great influence on our nutritional recommendations. It’s why we’ve gotten in the health and nutrition fix we’re in now. It hurts me to see so many people on so many diet and nutrition sites struggling so hard and trying to do the “right” thing … and quoting all the wrong protocols: calorie-counting, eliminating any fat from their diets, "healthy grains", doing extreme or at least very strenuous exercise … and still unable to reach their weight or health goals. They assume they’re not doing “enough”, or not trying hard enough, and beating themselves up because it isn’t working. Well, it isn’t working because -it- doesn’t work! Not because of any personal failure! I would like to try to break that cycle.

Hi there, thanks for commenting on my Mushrooms blog. I totally agree with you about the yumminess of mushrooms. Mushies, butter and a little garlic... mmm. Stay tuned for more veggie recipes over the coming weeks.
