Hi I have battled with my weight since I was about 11 years old; so in 2005 things change for me as I was diagnosed with borderline diabetes. Borderline you either have it or you don’t. I knew then things had to change because we had six generations of adult onset diabetes and I didn’t want to go through the battles my mom has had to do plus I hate needles. But I still went back and forth with the yo-yoing diets. In 2006 I got married to my soulmate. Finally got serious in 2010 ...
Finally got serious in 2010 and loosen up and started letting my guard down and let people in that year I about 35# I put on since I started my journey in 2005 but hit a plateau which took me to the root cause which I kept hidden called Binge Eating. I realized then if I wanted to really make everlasting changes I needed help!! I went to my first Binge Eating Disorder Therapy on July 1, 2011 and have been going since then. I finally let the closet door swing wide open let all my skeletons and secrets out and man did I starting liking myself a lot more. I actually started working on my self esteem and did things for myself without feeling selfish. I have learned so much more about myself especially on how strong, brave, intelligent and beautiful I am. I am still working on it but have maintained the 35# for 20 months. I had gallbladder surgery on June 29, 2012; due to my eating disorder finally caught up to me. My last year’s accomplishments as I have begun to feel stronger have been completing a The Rogue Run Half Marathon in 4:20 Pace: 19:55 & then Jog/Walk 5k Biggest Loser Run/Walk in Springfield OR in 54:33 Pace: 17:36. I am also working out - Boot Camp Class 3 times a week & Water Aerobics plus my walking and jogging. I also managed to do 397 binge free streak yes i did fall and it took a few months to get back up but I learned alot about how to handle my emotions and now am streaking again. I don’t know what the word CAN’T mean anymore. I love a good challenge and know that with my hard work the rest will come into play. I recently started a workshop on Intuitive Eating at the request of my therapist. I’m leaving the diet mentality behind and working on learning my hunger queues again since I obviously have not been in tuned with my body when it comes to eating. I know I can be healthy at any size but this work requires much work inside and as I am doing this I am learning patience but realize that I listen to my body hunger queues and continue to move my body will reset itself it may not come quick but all in time it will come off. I will still keep track of my food intake make healthy choices but will let go of some of my past in order to make that hump that I need to get me to goal.. I know I have it in you just watch me do it. Come along for my wild ride see what other races I do. Always looking for personal best times!! I will be doing several 5k races and hope to improve my time on my second Half in September 2013!
