Hi My name is Emmy and I have battled with my weight since I was about 11 years old; so in 2005 things change for me as I was diagnosed with borderline diabetes. Borderline you either have it or you don’t. I knew then things had to change because we had six generations of adult onset diabetes and I didn’t want to go through the battles my mom has had to do plus I hate needles. But I still went back and forth with the yo-yoing diets. In 2006 I got married to my soulmate.

Finally got serious in 2010 and loosen up and started letting my guard down and let people in that year. I lost about 35# since I started my journey in 2005 but hit a plateau which took me to the root cause which I kept hidden called Binge Eating. I realized then if I wanted to really make everlasting changes I needed help!! I went to my first Binge Eating Disorder Therapy on July 1, 2011 and have been going since then.

I finally let the closet door swing wide open let all my skeletons and secrets out and man did I starting liking myself a lot more. I actually started working on my self esteem and did things for myself without feeling selfish. I have learned so much more about myself especially on how strong, brave, intelligent and beautiful I am. I am still working on it but have maintained the 35# for a while now. I had gallbladder surgery on June 29, 2012; due to my eating disorder finally caught up to me.

My accomplishments as I have begun to feel stronger has been my Woggling (walk/run) I have completed over 10 races 5K, 10K, & Half Marathon. If you would have told me 4 years ago I would be woggling i would have laughed in your face - yeah right. From the time i walked my first half - and felt that pride and accomplishment. I have improved my times and this fluffy girl can get out there and walk run a half, 10k or 5k and my competition is myself mentally and physically.

Health at everysize; don't give up on living life because you are waiting to get skinny live life and enjoy the ride along the way and watch what happens!! Loving yourself no matter what the scale says is the most important thing you can do for yourself!! Be patient, compassionate and kind to yourself-remember the weight didn't happen overnight so it won't come off overnight either!
Never give up and continue to learn never stop!

In November I decided to build my team and my best friend is coaching me I am ready to do this. So with my Coach, best friends, doctor and therapist I am starting to see successes in all aspects of my journey. I know I will get to my goals now, my determination is fierce. I deserve to take care of me now!!!

Your new job is someones old job.
Your new excuse is someones old excuse.
Your new health plan is someones old heath plan.
You may not be chartering new waters in finding the new you, but you can be positive and have fun along the way.

Evening Emmy! If you give up now, how will you ever know you could have succeeded? No matter the cost or sacrifice, keep pushing yourself beyond your own boundaries. Make this minute the minute of decision and break free of your self-made limitations!!

Hello Emmy. I thought I’d share a personal observation that seemed to have been a popular one. I hope you don’t mind if I share it again:

Every fat cell acquired through life is accompanied with either a good or bad memory. No wonder losing weight is such an emotional journey!

    DON'T GIVE UP!!

Howdy Emmy! If we can’t do 1 sit-up, why set a goal to do 100 sit ups by the end of the week? Although we may have the desire to set miraculous goals, temper them with reality and tone the goals down into achievable goals…then we will reap a feeling of success instead of failure and frustration. Another new day is here! You're doing great! Keep up the hard work and sacrifices!

It's super Saturday, Emmy! If you've ever been late for work. Late for a date. Felt too old to change. Missed the boat/train. Fell off the wagon. Took a sabbatical. Derailed while on vacation. Bad stuff happened in life. It’s okay to be late. All LATE stands for is:

    L-augh
    A-t
    T-he
    E-xperience

Then get back on track. There’s years worth of empty days ahead to fill with good positive choices!
