I love this photo of my husband and our son.

My boys, Halloween 2011. We had a scarecrow & lion. All we were missing was Dorothy and the tinman.

My Life...My Goals

Hi! I'm a 35-year old wife and mother of two adorable boys. For me growing up, weight was never a concern. Well, too much weight wasn't. I was actually one of those 'too skinny' teenagers. While the overweight girl in my class was being made fun of for being heavy, I was being made fun of for being too skinny. I had knobby knees and elbows and you could count my ribs. I hated being so thin (how many wish they had that problem). I used to eat and eat and eat to try and gain weight. ...
Instead of gaining, I just grew taller. I went from being 5 feet to 5 foot 8.5 inches in just a couple years. All that changed there is that I no longer got teased for being so short and skinny, now it was being so tall and skinny. The only thing I liked about being so thin is that I could eat as much as I wanted of whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. Sounds wonderful, doesn't it? Well, my metabolism finally caught up to me. Around my mid-20s, I went from about 100 pounds to my highest of 186 in about 6 years! That's a lot of weight, I had almost doubled in size. While I have never thought of myself as fat, which I don't think I ever was, I do want to get myself back to a much healthier size. I've always considered myself a fairly healthy, although not perfect, eater. I've never been a big fan of sweets. I can eat just a couple bites of chocolate or ice cream and be satisfied. But, I do know the 3 things that have caused me to gain weight, lack of exercise, portion size, and I eat out way more than I used to. So, I'm here because I hope to learn to live a better lifestyle, something I could pass on to my kids. I want to get down to a healthier weight (not too thin like high school) and be active. It's a slow process, but I find when I put everything into it, I can get there.

My Goals:
My current goal is to be down to 130-135 by the end of the summer. I hope to lose about 5 pounds a month. I started at 173.5 the 2nd week of January, so my goal for the end of January is to be at 169.5. Then 5 pounds each month. So, goal plan is:

Jan 31: 169.5 - Reached Jan. 26
Feb. 29: 164.5 - Reached Apr. ?
April 30: 159.5
May 31: 154.5
June 30: 149.5
July 31: 144.5
August 31: 139.5
Sept. 30: 134.5
Oct. 31: 130

Once I get into the 130s, I'll reassess my weight goals as I don't want to become too thin.

My Program:
My biggest "excuse" to not exercise is that I don't have the time. In reality, I just don't enjoy exercising. It is hard juggling a job and a family, much less finding time to exercise. Most people will exercise first thing in the morning before everyone else is up. Besides the fact that I'm not a morning person, I'm also into work by 6 am (leave my house at 5:30) so it's hard to be up early enough to workout and then get ready for work. And my options for working out at home is our elliptical in our bedroom where DH is sleeping or the living room which is next to my sons bedroom. Neither location is good for working out when everyone else is asleep. My other excuse is that when I get home from work, I want to be with my DH and kids. And then after the kids go to bed, I like to spend time with DH before I go to bed. I finally came up with a plan that worked for my needs and my family. Since my younger son is napping when I get home and DH and my older son are usually relaxing

Other Information:
My all-time favorite series of books is the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon.

My fave movie(s) are Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea. Definitely not a top seller, but I love the main character and the story,.

The first day of spring is one thing, and the first spring day is another. The difference between them is sometimes as great as a month. ~Henry Van Dyke
