I'm a 30-something mom of two, who has always lived an active lifestyle... until having kids. My mother was diagnosed with weight-related Type II diabetes, and with a family history, I want to avoid her fate, and set a healthy example for my kids.
I feel better. I look better. I AM better.
And I'm only getting started.
This is the window to my life. Join me on my journey to a better ME.
I want to teach my daughters to be healthy, active, and live well. Not just fad diet or not pay attention. I want to be healthy, I want to live long, I want to live strong. I want to lose my weight and feel great, and I want to do it RIGHT, so it sticks.
Right now, I'm restarting my strength training program, shelving my running goals for now, and focusing more on my bike and riding goals.
Right now, I'm not tracking my nutrition. Over the past two years, I've been making healthy lifestyle changes that have added up to easy maintenance, but my physical program has fallen by the wayside.
So I'm getting back to basics, shelving my running goals and swapping them for my bike and riding goals. I want a solid, full-body strength program of low reps, high weights, and regular (FUN!) outdoor cardio.
School's out for summer, and I want to incorporate active fun with my girls before they venture off into the wide world of Kindergarten and 2nd grade!
I live in Macon, GA, with my husband and two daughters (5 and 7). I am the Lead Forums Moderator for the Office of Letters and Light out of Berkeley, CA, the sponsors of NaNoWriMo. I never thought I would be a fitness nut, but I'm a total gym rat, love to exercise, and love the feeling I get. I used to suffer from severe depression, triggered by a year-long bout of post-partum depression, but getting fit and losing some weight has helped beat it back into remission.
I love to write, try new things, and get obsessed easily with things I get into, like this whole fitness thing. My husband teases me and calls me a fitness addict.
I hope he's right.
I live for my girls, and they're the whole reason I'm doing all of this, but I've found that it is good for ME, too. If I'm not healthy, they won't be, either!

Any tips for when you are STUCK. I have managed from 183 to 170 in 3 months, but then seem to be totally stuck. Tried eating more often, less often, more exercise. Clothes are looser, but the scale is not moving. I so want to be in the 160s. Any tips or advice, I don't want to resort to one of the quick weight loss fads, I want to not be On A Diet, but just eating healthily, and am learning a lot from the journal. Just hate this roadblock. Thanks.

Hello I am 60 years old and only need to loose 10 pounds. Doctors orders. However I can't seem to loose more than 4 pounds. So I have decided to try coaching as a way of giving me a way to loose more weight. Could you help me out.

i just came on here but i havent been consistent with it. i am disabled, i just lost my husband a few months back, things are so impossible these days but trying to get back to some point to start taking care of my health.
i am on a fixed income and buying food is so hard these days since i have a lot less money without my husbands income.
can you tell me if you can lose if you just journal what you have.
