Hi! My name is Donna. I am happy to be here and sharing this journey. I want to create a healthier lifestyle for myself and my husband. And I want to lose weight so I can feel better about the way I look. AND I want to make life easier for my horse, she has to carry me around!

Update 7/29/09
It's been a long time since I've updated my page. This is not a complete overhaul, but I do want to note that I've changed my weight ticker. I've been stuck for a long time and I've just finally lost a new pound this week after being on a plateau for over a year. Plus we now have a new scale that weighs me a bit heavier than the old scale. So in order not to get discouraged by the new, higher number and in order to reflect more accurately where I am right now and where I'm going, I've changed my ticker. I changed my weight to reflect the new scale but changed the ticker to "pounds lost" so as not to have to look at the depressing new, higher number. I have to keep my optimism to keep motivated, see?

Hopefully these kind of changes will make all the numbers and graphs and charts more accurate and more useful as I get serious about the big push to lose the last 15 pounds.

Addition/Update 5/6/09
"Play your own game, keep your eyes on the prize and remember that the instant you respond to that player's stunts, you are then playing his game. You are no longer playing your own game and that can cost you in the long run."
-From XHASTEDMOMOF2's blog, she got it from an interview with a pro hockey coach.

I like this. I've been plateaued for a long time. Better that than gaining, but I DO want to reach my goal. I've got to focus and get the eating thing under tighter control. I've done things so far without a whole lot of sacrifice. But I've got to sacrifice some now in order to reach my goal. If I do that, I know I can reach my goal. I've got to make this _my_ game and stop letting stress and upsets and depression etc. sidetrack me from my goal.

Update 5/20/08
It's been a little over a year since I joined Spark. Though I have been on a plateau for several months now, I have still enjoyed greater success than I would've thought possible after my past attempts at weight loss. I am plateaued but maintaining and working to break through the plateau.

I am committed to my journey. I want to be my best, healthiest self and live my best life. I am on the path, I just have to keep walking. It may be hard sometimes but it is the right choice.

I love quotes and here are a few inspirational/motivational quotes from the "Mantra" thread to keep me going:

From Sparkpeople:
"Being overweight is hard, losing weight is hard, maintaining a healthy weight is hard. Choose your hard."

"If we are facing in the right direction, all we have to do is keep on walking." -- Buddhist Proverb

"I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do." - Helen Keller

"Men often become what they believe themselves to be. If I believe I cannot do something, it makes me incapable of doing it. But when I believe I can, then I acquire the ability to do it even if I didn't have it in the beginning." - Mahatma Gandhi

"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind, don't matter, and those who matter, don't mind" - Dr Seuss

My Goals:
I want to live a healthier lifestyle. And I want to reach a healthier weight.

My Program:
I am tracking my calories every day. Even before finding SP, I joined a gym so that I could get back into lifting weights in a way that I couldn't while working out at home. On days I don't go to the gym to lift weights, I go jogging. And I ride my horse as often as I can.

Other Information:
I love cats and horses and being outdoors. My husband and I are also members of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society.

I just loved reading your comment on my page this AM! And a 5 K with the DH sounds great.

Not to fret about the scale going up and slips etc. You are totally in charge...not the scale. If you ate off plan or skipped exercise then it goes up. No power over you. You have the reins. When you are ready, when you can make place in your busy life you will do what you want to do. You always do. It just takes practice, like riding a horse for example! It is always wonderful to hear from you.

Did I tell you I visited El on my way back north last month? What fun! The NotNuns live.

So great to see your comments on my blog! Looks to me like you are also getting into the Beck Pink habits. How is it going for you? There are a number of very successful Beckies who blog regularly and when I am really doing well I find that reading them is part of my program. It is working for me the way our old team used to work when it was at its best.
