Hi. I am in Waco, not Houston but I know there is a walking club in your area if you are interested in participating in local events on a regular basis. I do similar walks every weekend. We are not "fund raising" clubs, we are for fun, fitness and fellowship. Our clubs are family oriented and most events are baby stroller, and pet friendly. Our object is to keep a record book and collect a stamp for each event that we do. I've done over a 1000 of the 10K events in Texas and in 46 other states. Visit my blogs and see my recent adventures. Here is the information on our local club:

I can't believe you're so close to reaching your goal... how exciting is that! Congratulations on all your hard work. It is definitely paying off for sure :-)
Also, I saw that you said you're traveling alot so healthy eating is kind of hard, but I found this link and thought you would like it: http://www.realsimple.com/food-recipes/r ecipe-collections-favorites/healthy-me als/make-nutritious-snacking-choices-1 0000001729489/index.html?xid=cnnfeed
They actually have a whole "on the go healthy" section I'm going to check out too.
The 5K was fun! It was crazy on a trail though that was muddy and wet and we had to go THROUGH ankle deep water twice, so it wasn't the typical 5K I'm used to in the city, but it was great. I was worn out all day after that. haha!
