Discovering the New Me

I am a fifty-one year old single mother of one teenager, one young adult, a very spoiled Shih-Tsu, and two fat cats. My weight loss journey has been a rollercoaster ride. Most recently, I lost 25 lbs in 2013 by logging into Sparkpeople every day and tracking my food. Christmas threw me off track, and I have gained back my original weight plus an extra ten pounds. Time to turn it around!

I am also a licensed elementary teacher who needs to discover a new career for myself. I am ...

I am also a licensed elementary teacher who needs to discover a new career for myself. I am thinking about starting a business, and am hoping that as I lose weight, I will gain the confidence to do so.

Finally, I was recently diagnosed with moderate osteo-arthritis, so I am navigating how to become physically fit while dealing with knee pain. I'd appreciate any suggestions!

You're very welcome for the hug! I hope your daughter's ankle, and your knee, get better soon.

Yes! Stop by and say hello! We're a very friendly bunch!

So, the question is, is the dog watching to keep us honest, or is he watching because he's waiting for us to drop something he can snatch up???? emoticon

The best answer I can give is that I got involved really by chance! I heard about a job in a charity through my postman (!) 23 years ago, and I thought I would take it just to earn a bit of money as I had just finished university. And then I stayed, changing jobs several times until I reached what is more or less my dream job!

A good way to get involved is often to start as volunteer. Many charities work with volunteers.

Hey there! Here's what taping a house is. In new construction, there are studs put up and then drywall is screwed or nailed onto the studs, therefore making a wall. Taping is the part where you mud the seams of the drywall and fill in the screws. You have to put on mud, tape and then three coats of mud on wider increments to make a smooth, blended in seam so when you sand it out...and then prime (paint) the walls, you cannot see where the seams are on the drywall.

Check it out on youtube.

Glad to know you're back.

Hugs!
