Making Lifestyle Changes!!

I'm getting fit, and staying that way!

My name is Darcy. I have a tendency to gain weight quickly. I made a career change in 2011, and while in school, I gained 25 pounds, had a cholesterol level of 289(!), and an HbA1c of 6.1. Diabetes runs in my family, and I have a sweet tooth that can get out of control. My doctor said this was my five-year warning: I will develop diabetes if I don't turn things around quickly.

Diabetes runs in my family, and I have a sweet tooth that can get out of control. My doctor said this was my five-year warning: I will develop diabetes if I don't turn things around quickly.

I have lost weight and gotten fit before...That was in 2010. My success ended when I got two sports-related injuries that affected my ability to work out -- and I just didn't want to eat less. I got lazy/sedentary (again!), and, well, became a chubby pre-diabetic who ate and ate and ate!

Now, it's 2014, and I'm looking to shed the pounds and keep them off. Before, I got to 123 pounds. This time, I just want to get to a healthy BMI (about 130-135 pounds) and then maintain.

My Goals:
* Track my food at least three times per week.

* Do at least 5 cardio workouts per week, for 30 minutes each time.

* Get more sleep!




My Program:
* In May 2014, I started wearing a Fitbit Flex...It's helped me become more active!

* I have an elliptical machine. I do not belong to a gym yet, so I'm kind of stuck in a cardio rut for now.

* I walk at least 2 miles every morning.


Personal Information:
I live in the Southwest now (but I've lived in every part of the U.S. except the Southeast.) I'm married and have two great kids!!!

Other Information:
I read "The Spark," and I'm inspired to make it real for me!
