Take one day at a time

I have decided to start anew and reset my goal ticker. I have been put on medication for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and for some heart issues. It was a VERY stressful year in 2012! The start of 2013 was rough, but things have improved. As of Jan. 2014, my health issues are all under control with medication. Hopefully, by losing more weight, I can eventually cut down on some meds.

I have kept off 15 of the 45 lbs. I originally lost, so I can be happy about that at ...

I have kept off 15 of the 45 lbs. I originally lost, so I can be happy about that at least. Thanks to SparkPeople, I have the tools and the will power to do it! Last year I stopped my terrible nail biting habit that I've had most of my life! If I can finally do that....I can do ANYTHING!!

My Goals:
I want to lose weight and feel healthy! I am tired of being out of breath just climbing a flight of stairs.

I want to be able to stop some of the medication if I can eat better and improve my health.

I want to live to see grandchildren!

My Program:
I will exercise 2-3 times per week and try to fit in little "mini sessions" whenever I can. I am committing to at least 15 minutes a day.

I will not give in to emotional eating as I have done so many times in the past.

I will NOT eat past 9 PM.

I will plan my meals and track every little bite! If I ate it, I have to own up to it!

Personal Information:
I am happily married for 38 years with 2 adult sons.

I have lived on Long Island (NY) all of my life.

I hope to move to VA or NC when I retire.

Other Information:
I love reading Stephen King novels. Own most of them!

I enjoy sitting outside on my deck and walking by the lake in the preserve nearby.

I like listening to a variety of music - I especially love The Cure, Usher, Ne-Yo, Lady Gaga, Steely Dan, Mary J. Blige, Elton John and I'm a huge John Lennon fan too.

Hi Debb! Thanks for the info on the food app. I'm afraid I'm one of those Luddites who refuses to join the smartphone generation, though. I still have a flip open, prepaid cellphone that I almost never use (got it for emergencies). I also don't text, facebook, tweet, etc. SmartPeople is the only social network I belong to. One of these days, though, I may just have to give in to the smart phone revolution. I'm hearing more and more about some really useful apps, like the Fooducate one you just told me about, which may eventually sway me into the 20th century at least - not too sure I'm ready for the 21rst!

The weekend is going to be as bad as the week has been as I have to work Saturday night and Sunday morning. And I have a meeting on Sunday afternoon, a dinner and a Bible class on Sunday as well as going to Church! No rest for the wicked as they say.

Hi Debb,
Thank you, thank you for the wonderful quilting book. I can get lost in quilting books and magazines for hours. Right now I have fabric spread all around my sewing room trying to choose colors for my next project.
Hope you have a great week!

Hi Debb! Thanks so much for the cooler. Just in time to throw in a couple of cold drinks to take to the fireworks! Have a great rest of the weekend!
