Committed to change

I'm here on this site to try and make some permanent lifestyle changes. To my demise, I've been dieting most of my life. About 5 years ago I was diagnosed with insulin dependent diabetes, so I'm having to be very serious about learning how to eat because of its immediate affect on my health. I've also become more committed to exercise. This summer I'm in training to power walk/run a 26K marathon.

My Goals:
To get more focused on eating less simple carbs and more healthy complex carbs, more healthy fats, and lean proteins. Also, to get exercise to be the most important event in my day. I tend to have too many excuses for not exercising.

My Program:
I'm in training to wallk/run a 26K marathon race that takes place in September. I love to hike and this will get me out on the trails even more. I need exercise to be fun and motivational.

Also, I'm logging all my food and exercise into Sparkpeople. I believe that it will help me to be more accountable.

A very belated welcome to the Pedometer Challenge Team.

Hope you have on your pedometer and are accumulating lots of steps as you travel toward or maintain your weight goal.

Join in and post your Daily steps on the Daily Steps team thread.

Individual steps that are posted are added up for total team steps as we move around from place to place. Right now we are finishing up a team trip around the border of the Continental US. Next goal is around the European border.

Accumulate your steps any way you can.
Look forward to seeing your progress on the team threads.

I too love to hike; exercise that doesn't feel like exercise! I've added you as a Spark friend to help motivate me to lace up my shoes and hit the trail. Reading your message board post helped me stop procrastinating this morning. Who knows, maybe I'll walk that marathon with you!
