We are finally back in California after my husband retired from a long career as headmaster of a private school on Maui. We've settled in a town up above Chico with pines, cedars, and a short drive to lots of hiking, kayaking, and lots of outdoor activities. It's so beautiful here! I'm an RN care manager for a medical group in Chico. Great job, great co-workers, great patients. Life is good.

I have been absent for a very long time. I entered nursing school Fall 2012 and poured all my energy into my studies. Everything took a back seat, including my health. Well, after lots of sleepless nights, long days in the hospital, and a re-gain of 30 pounds (after losing a total of 50) I am finished with school and working as a Registered Nurse.

School ended in May, I started working full time within three days, and I passed my board exam in July. When school ended, I hit the ground running and resumed my healthy lifestyle without missing a beat. I'm happy to report that I'm getting my health back, my weight is dropping again, and my fitness level is improving daily.

I want to thank this wonderful site for still being here after an absence of nearly three years! You're just like a faithful old friend and I'm very grateful.

If anyone out there remembers me, stop by and say hello!

My Goals:
As I move through my 50's my goal is to ramp up my activity level, start doing more outdoor sports, and help as many people as I can in my new nursing career.

My Program:
I've been running, riding my stationary bike and doing strength training. At this point I'm re setting my goals to include core work to improve my posture. I know that when I stand up straight I look thinner.

Thank You for your comment and questions on my TRaining blog. When I started running just about 1 year ago. I did the couch to 5K. I now use "Map My Run". I got the VIP something and it comes with different training plans that I check off each day. I think it is like 5 dollars a month. Goes by time rather then miles. I tried one by the mile and found I was over doing it to get more miles. As the time gets longer I am getting stronger and more miles are naturally being added. My easy pace has also increased. Before this year the last time I did any running was when I was in the Army back in the 80's. I HATED it then. Now I love it! Once I get past the lung burn (at about 1/2 mile) Everything feels wonderful. If you enjoy it I hope your get back into running. My walks were just getting so long. Running cuts that time way down.

Thanks for taking the time to comment on my blog "Getting The Dreaded "D" Diagnosis". Being a healthcare professional =raising my hand= makes it all the harder, I think. We KNOW better, and we KNOW all the reasons. I, too, "bargained" with my doctor, but now I really need to hunker down and do the deed.

I have seen the damage with patients, and sometimes the denial that some of them exhibited was just plain brutal. Too graphic to go into details here.

Know that I very much appreciate the support. Not sure the A1C will be down, but I know for sure that the weight will be.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope it's a warm Tuesday where you are.

Thank you for your support! We are on this journey for our health . It is so great that we are able to support each other. Who needs those doctors anyway! (we don't because we are becoming healthy! :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog... I do the same. I have my fitbit synced and I have a great food scale that I use religiously!
The issue is that I need to eat less. When I eat within the ranges my fitbit provides, I gain or maintain. I must exercise, but I can't use that as an excuse to eat more anymore...
I always eat a minimum of 1200 because anything less is just unhealthy. I have even more leeway with that because I am tall - 5'9", so I usually try to get up to around 1500.
But on days when I exercise a lot my fitbit can suggest I will lose weight even if I eat over 2000 calories at a MINIMUM.
No.
Doesn't; work for me.
As you said, it's a process.
I'll figure it out.
Thank so much for the support!!!
