Walking daily is not always easy because sometimes my arthritis makes my spine swollen and my other joints sore but I find the pain isn't quite as bad if I do make sure I walk.

I got a pedometer and it's helping motivate me because it's very easy to track mileage. My joints aren't as stiff and I can walk a mile now without feeling like I need to nap once I get home.

I can now walk a mile and a quarter. Considering it was hard for me to walk 1/4 mile, this is fantastic. I'm thrilled!

I'm lucky to live so close to several large stores that are big enough that several laps around indoors helps me meet my exercise goal without leaving me vulnerable to my allergies or sunburn and the store employees don't mind and are supportive.

I joined Spark People in 11/2009 because I got tired of walking before my chubby little chihuahua did. Now I can tire him out and I'm proud of myself.

My Goals:
I want to be able to walk 5 miles in a day without feeling like I've over-exerted myself.

My Program:
Walk 3x a week minimum with a goal distance of 5 miles/10k steps a day.

Personal Information:
I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, in the suburb Beaverton, right outside of Portland, OR.

Other Information:
I knit, quilt, sew garments, crochet, tat lace and cross stitch in addition to painting fabric for use in my quilting. I love fiber arts.

I also spoil my two chihuahuas and my husband as much as possible.
