A Healthier Me

I started this program in August 2011 at 191 pounds. I was also on blood pressure medicine and Metformin (1000 mg. daily) for my type II diabetes. I wanted to lose weight, not only just to look better, but also to feel better and to help lower my blood pressure and my diabetes numbers (my A1c). Hi!

I started this program in August 2011 at 191 pounds. I was also on blood pressure medicine and Metformin (1000 mg. daily) for my type II diabetes. I wanted to lose weight, not only just to look better, but also to feel better and to help lower my blood pressure and my diabetes numbers (my A1c). I have accomplished that with the help of SparkPeople and my Spark Friends. My diabetes is better and my doctor recently took me off my Metformin, as a test to see how I do without it. (So far, so good! )My blood pressure is so much better, I'm totally off the two pills a day I was taking for it! And the best part is, I'm having fun and I've made some great new friends in the process!

I've been retired from a public library for over 4 years now and take care of my 88 year-old mother who has lived with my husband and I since her stroke in 2005. SparkPeople also has been my lifeline to the outside world, since I only get "out" two days a week, when my mother goes to Adult Day Care for Seniors.

With SparkPeople, I've found a "way of life" diet! And a healthy -- physically and mentally -- way of life as a bonus! Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'll be around here for quite a while!

My Goals:
My goals are to lose weight to help with my diabetes and arthritis. I'd also like to let the "skinny girl" inside me back out! :)

My Program:
I've worked my way up to 45 minutes a day on my stationary bike and lifting free weights every other day. I've also discovered the joys of Wii boxing! I need help with my upper arms, so I'm hoping the jabs will help!

Hello there, Just wanted to check in and say hi. How's it going over your way. I had Andi over at the VOA park a couple of weekends ago. The vet didn't want me having her at the park since she hasn't had all her shots, but I felt it would do her good just to get some walking in.

emoticon Hi Marsha, oh this baby girl over here is so precious. Let's just say she is already spoiled rotten after a week. She is such a cuddle bug. Not sure how that is going to work when she is 35/40 pounds, but for right now, I am loving it. Needless to say, I am exhausted from the going outside with her day and night, but it isn't a stressful tired like with Winston. You just had to be on guard with that cat or he would destroy anything in his path. I did look up the shelter yesterday and found out he got adopted again, so that is good. I think it is really working out for the best, because I am loving little Andi Bug!

So how are you and your gang?
