On The Road For Real!
UPDATE: 6/5/11 9 weeks into JG Training and things are going great! Just minor ankle aches and pains that are easily maintained with ice and rest after my long runs. Summer classes start Tuesday, so we'll see how this Summer of Insanity pans outs. On The Road Again...Well, the track at least :-) After a year of highs and lows, frustration and joy, 2011 started with a "GO" from the two referees in my life for the past 4 ...
UPDATE: 6/5/11 9 weeks into JG Training and things are going great! Just minor ankle aches and pains that are easily maintained with ice and rest after my long runs. Summer classes start Tuesday, so we'll see how this Summer of Insanity pans outs. On The Road Again...Well, the track at least :-) After a year of highs and lows, frustration and joy, 2011 started with a "GO" from the two referees in my life for the past 4 months...my physical therapist and my surgeon! at 4:30 pm on 12/31/10 my PT surprized me with "are you ready to go solo?" I was so shocked and amazed that only after two, 10 minute sessions on a treadmill (preceded by 8 weeks of tri-weekly therapy sessions) I was released into the wild. Well, the open air of the high school track. No road running for at least the first 3 weeks. So we're going to try again to train for and complete a marathon, improve my blood pressure (6 months and no meds!) and lose weight (which is impossible for me to do without extended exercise). So lets see if two years later, I will make more than two of my goals. Wish me luck! ANKLE SURGERY 9/15/10 RUNNING FOR MY LIFE After a 6 month hiatus due to back to back ankle injuries, I am running again and training for a marathon this fall. I trained for and ran my first 1/2 Marathon last year using the Jeff Galloway method and I am a true believer that ANYONE can run using his process! I now know that I will be a runner for life, no matter how big (or hopefully small) I will be. My over all goal is improved health and weightloss, but have other goals such as the marathon, a triathalon and to help and inspire others through my running. SparkPeople is an amazing website and no matter how often I may "fall off the wagon", once I sign back onto to SparkPeople, I find the motivation to continue.
