UPDATED 9-04-2014 . . . Once again... I am starting over. This has been the most challenging sabatical from SP. I became full time sole caregiver to my mother. It was not only difficult but I also started a new full time job a year into taking care of her.

I attended a Care Givers Conference early on in caring for Mom and learned some really horrifying statistics. I discovered this is probably the worst thing I could have done to my body, but Mom needed my care. Once she put herself into a position where she could no longer live alone, she moved to assisted living. That did not work out well for her. She hated it and sabotaged her own health to get out of there... and she nearly died in the process. She is now in a nursing home and I am on the mend.

You have no idea just how glad I am that this chapter in my life is closed and a new one is beginning. I know this sounds harsh but in reality, care giving is the most stressful job anyone can undertake.

Sept. 2014 update:
I thought life would be different but it is not much different since Mom is having difficulty adjusting to life in a nursing home. We have had our challenges with staff, one in particular who I knew was abusive but that took some time to get management to see it. They finally did as another patient ended up with bruises... sad to say.

We have nearly lost mom on three separate occasions so my involvement with her and the facility was pretty much on a daily basis. I have spent most of my spare time cleaning out her home, putting it on the market, only to have it sell in less than two weeks. That meant putting it into high gear, getting rid of furniture... lots of donations took place... my garage is packed to the gills and a yard sale is coming in the next few weeks.

In September 2013, I made the decision to change my diet to Macrobiotics. Yesterday was Thanksgiving and I created a very healthy Macrobiotic dinner, plus cooked for Mom. I never took her food to her. Long story, but she pulled a fast one on me. There in lies how I came back to SP. I just made the decision... no more games, no more manipulation from mom, I am doing everything I need to do now to put my life back on track and GET HEALTHY!

This was very beneficial because I learned a lot of new things about food and how it affects the body. I have switched though to a food plan that is totally no sugar! No potatoes, no rice, no pasta's, no breads (real - sprouted wheat only - sour dough on occasion). It has been the best thing for me... in five months I have literally dropped 30 pounds with little effort. I eat FRESH, Organic, veggies; grass fed beef once a month I make a dish... free range chicken and eggs, wild caught ONLY fish... never anything out of a can. If there are more than three ingredients on the label... you don't want it! Guaranteed there is something in there that is unhealthy.

Side note... just last night a news clip from Perdue Chicken... they are no longer using Antibiotics in their chickens because it has been determined that it is part of the reason why medications are not working the way they should. I have been saying this for years now... we have built up an immunity to them because we are eating them on every time we eat chicken that have been treated with them. Kind of a common sense thing.

So... I am back - yet again - because I need to get OUT OF my doldrums... the exhaustion from caring for mom for so long, the cleaning out of her home and the work that took... because I did it totally by myself. sheer exhaustion!
