Each time I leave Sparkpeople and come back, I have gained more weight. It is a vicious cycle that I cannot seem to break.
Since this has been "a year of changes" for me, I decided to give this one more try.
I am going to be leaving my sedentary job soon, and will be going to work as a Dog Groomer. This is something that I learned to do twenty years ago, then worked in the field for12 years. I felt that an office job was more "secure" at that time. I've been unhappy for quite awhile now, and grooming has been on my mind. An opportunity became available a short time ago, and I am taking it. I will be 50 years old in November.....I've spent too much time being unhappy. With the change in my work status, my attitude will change, and hopefully I will be on the right track to losing weight and getting my life back together!
To learn to like myself, and stop the cycle of emotional eating.
To learn to look in the mirror each morning and say "Hi Beautiful" instead of "You're hideous."
Track all of my meals;
Weigh once a week, on Sundays;
A mixture of exercise: Dance Aerobics, Treadmill, biking and strength training.
I am hoping to lose at least 10 pounds in time for my trip to the beach at the end of June.
I was born and raised in New York, moved to and went to college in West Virginia, and wound up in North Carolina by way of Florida, Massachusetts and Tennessee
Happily Married; no children.

I had a curious thing happen 3 nights ago. I had indigestion, and I took baking soda with water. After that, all my muscle soreness went away. So I did this two more nights. I slept soundly all night, no muscle soreness. So today I did research online on baking soda and muscle soreness. On the www dot livestrong dot com website, there are many articles that talk about the relief of muscle soreness after working out, that many endurance athletes and bodybuilders take tsp baking soda in water after working out. Of course, if you are sensitive to sodium then it would not be wise. But if you can use it, try it. I did cut back on salt in my cooking to make it balance out. I haven't had 3 days of no muscle soreness in a long time. ALSO, the site talks about sedentariness as also being a cause of muscle soreness, especially if the muscles are smaller than needed to haul around the bodyweight. UGH, I didn't like that part. Anyhow, I just thought I would share with you what I learned. I plan on using the baking soda after my gym workouts. 2500mg sodium is daily recommended amount, the sodium content is on the bs box.
Keep me posted if you try this. Even my Vicodin didn't help muscle soreness go away. Now I can exercise more. A plus!!
