My partner has a favorite song for me with lyrics that go "Like a lovingly made bottle of wine, you're 39, you're beautiful, you're mine." I'm 39 now and I'm planning to make my 39th year the one that fits closest to what I want for myself.

I want to live up to my potential; my deepest values and my aspiration. I feel like I wasted a lot of the last 10 years living someone else's life. I took back effective control in 2010 and that decision led to my taking back control of my health and well being.

My goal is to live as close to my 'Happy Place' as I can. Being fit, capable and happy is who I want to be and who I am becoming.

Also (because I always wanna know ;-)) I'm 5'8". I started at 86.3kg (190lbs) and I'm heading back to 70kg (155lbs) BMI 23. After this goal is met I plan to make my body composition my main goal. I'd like to get below 20% body fat and I'll just accept whatever weight I'm at.

Update Dec 2012: My Christmas present was a Tanita Body Composition Scale. And it showed that even at 74kg (163lbs) I was 19% body fat, low visceral fat, high muscle mass. Wow! I still have visible love handles and a tummy however. I am aiming for 70kg but my body fat needs to not drop below about 15% as a female. Where my weight will be at this point I'm not sure. Also found out that I stuffed up my measurements and I am only 171cm or 5'7.3", not 5'8" or 174 as I had been calculating. Makes all my targets shift a bit...But reality is reality.

March 2013 Update: Ran my 22K Mountain Run which was a goal for this year. Now I have one more major event before my 40th. I'm finding however that as I improve and get better I want more. I'm less happy to just settle for good enough. Who knows where all this focus will take me!

Nov 2013: I hit 40. Yay! Now for new goals and new achievements. I've backslide a bit after dropping ST and going overseas but I know what works. Tracking. I've had so much success I know I can keep improving. I lost 13kg and ran several hard mountain runs. My fitness is really improving. My diet is much improved. I'm spending less at the supermarket. My kids are eating better. I'm enjoying my life with my partner. I have less anxiety and more effective control in my life. What's not to love about these achievements?!

May 2014: I let SP slide this year. I was sick of tracking and spent too much time on the site. I also lost my little group of friends as they left the site. Made me feel lonely and I just drifted. I'm logging in now and trying to figure out what my goals for the next year need to be. I still have 5-10kg (10-20lbs) to lose and I need to get back to the gym to ST. I bought a treadmill this month so I plan to keep using that during the darkest days of Winter and when the kids are home and I can't go out running. Watch this space!
