Making it happen!

June 2013 Update:

June 2013 Update:
As I look back back to the beginning of my Spark journey in October 2012, the goals and comments on my first SparkPage reflected my desperation, disappointment and defeat that consumed me at that time. I had all but given up.

First thing I did was sign up for SparkCoach where I was given valuable instruction and tools to jumpstart my journey to health.

I faithfully tracked and measured my food - and was absolutely amazed to drop 18 pounds during my first 90 days -- which included my birthday, Thanksgiving and Christmas!

My fitness program was very basic to start with. I do not belong to a gym. Using Spark's free fitness videos and acticles, I focused on my core using Coach Nichole's seated core routines, as well as pilates and yoga, slowing adding light weights over time. I used my house as a 'track' for walking. Slowly I located some muscles I hadn't used in years . . . and began to increase my activity level. Within 90 days, I was able to do things I hadn't done in years.

For 5 months, I have successfully sustained that initial loss, within a 3 pound 'tolerance' level. It has been a tremendously valuable experience in which I put into practice the Spark principles for a healthy lifestyle.

The critical point of maintenance for me is NOT merely about weight loss only -- it is about regaining and sustaining my health, energy and activity levels.

I consider my first 8 months with SparkPeople a complete success. And I have met some of the most awesome SparkFriends and joined Spark Teams which have provided an abundance of encouragement along the way.

So, now I'm revved up and it is time to hit it again. This time I'm aiming for another 10 pounds.

Thank you for your comments on my recent blog "Just Don't Care". It was encouraging to hear that I am not the only one who feels that way sometimes. I appreciate the personal experiences that you share. It really helps.

Thank you so much for the balloons! I've been here everyday, just not blogging, but using the daily feedback option.. I can't always think about what to write and then it takes me forever to actually write something!! A mental block I'm sure. All is well and I'm enjoying learning more about the healing properties of herbs.. Thanks for asking!! Hope all is well with you too! emoticon
