emoticon Good Morning,
Just thought I'd stop by with a bit of an update since starting my Spark break. I'm doing pretty good, I think stress was my problem because I've lost almost 3 pounds since starting my break. Between Rod's back surgery in December, hand surgery in May and another one scheduled for August I've had to take up quite a bit of the slack. Moving in January didn't help the stress levels much either. I've pretty much been doing everything the same as I was before I started my "break" but just not spending so much time on the computer tracking everything, doing team posts, challenges, etc. After doing all of it for so long I pretty much know what my calorie count will be at the end of the day anyway and I still wear my fitness tracker to keep track of my activity level. I go back to the doctor for my follow-up on Wednesday, I was really hoping to have lost some weight since my last visit so I'm trying not to stress about that now.

emoticon The biggest thing going on here in Southern Oregon is the current heat wave. We received an alert from the National Weather Service several days ago warning us. The temperatures have been 103 - 105 every day and it doesn't look like it's going to cool down much any time soon. They're predicting 107 on Wednesday. The worst thing is that it stays hot into the evening, it was 89 when we went to bed at 10:00 last night. We've only been using our air conditioner a little in the late afternoon, it started making loud noises the first time we turned it on, Rod took it apart and thinks he fixed the problem but now he's worried about what our electric bill will be so we're turning it on once the temperature in the house reaches 80 and turning it off after about 3 hours. At least we don't have the humidity here that so many of my Spark friends farther east have to deal with.

I haven't been doing much in the way of exercise for the last week either - too hot! We complain when it's cold and also when it's hot, is there anyplace where it's continually spring or fall? Right now I'd be happy with cold, you can always put on more clothes and wrap up in a blanket but there's only so much you can take off emoticon

Talk to you more later emoticon emoticon emoticon

Thanks for the goodie and your thoughts. I wish you a wonderful, relaxing summer. Hopefully I'll be back in the fall once I've had a chance to re-group and feel I can handle things better emoticon

Thanks for reading my Obsession blog and for your encouragement. I'm not giving up, still planning on continuing with my exercise and watching my diet, just spending less time in front of the computer doing Spark posts and tracking everything. After over 2 years of diligent tracking I have a pretty good idea what I can eat, what I can't and what my calorie count will end up being at the end of the day. In the last 2 years I've adjusted my calorie range from 800 per day to 1200, 1500 and 1900 to go along with the various articles I've read. My previous doctor told me, "With your family history and health issues weight loss may not be possible." I just didn't want to believe him. My current doctor is more positive but so far her suggestions haven't helped much either. Every day I walk 2 miles, do Yoga and Strength Training and am very active doing either gardening, housework or activities related to our recent move. My husband had back surgery in December and was told, "No lifting until September" so I've been doing all the heavy lifting, packing and hauling boxed down from the attic when we moved in January, helping him remodel his new shop, etc. I'm NOT sedentary or even close to it. I think the combination of early menopause and thyroid removal in 2001 is the reason for my lack of success and not anything I'm doing or not doing.
