We do not stop exercising because we grow old and tired, we grow old and tired because we stop exercising.

I always feel better when I exercise and eat healthy. I never feel fantastic when I overeat and live a sedentary life. But somehow, I managed to let go of this inner truth, lost a small part of my soul and gained way to much weight. My kids will be learning from me, and I want them to learn to feel good about their bodies and abilities. I'm kind of excited about the trials ...

This journey is forever shifting. The more I learn, the more I grow. I'm constantly adjusting my diet and workouts and learning how my body responds to these changes. I'm becoming the master of my own puppet...

There is disagreement among body-builders as far as diet, I think. So I guess we all have to tweak our diet to make it work for us. Agree that you have to eat some more when you are trying to build muscle. I just find that if I don't have some carbs (I count bananas and potatoes and maybe some whole grain here and there), then I start feeling crabby and depressed.

As far as weight, I have always done the low-weight, high rep way. For me it was mostly 3 lbs. . with 15 reps, 3 sets (except for things over my head and then it was 5 reps, 3 sets). I recently upped the poundage to 5 lb. weights. Man, did that make a difference. If you want to add a little weight to your 5 lbs. you could put weighted gloves on when using your weights. That would add 1-2 ibs, That will be my next tactic if I ever get past 5 lbs.
