I don't have my acupuncture for carpal tunnel until Tuesday. But I do agree with your friend who has recommended acupuncture as a wellness care. I first had acupuncture for a hip/back problem that I had for years and that was getting worse. I had to sell my stick shift car because it had gotten too painful to drive and I was in pain 24/7. I had been to PT and chiropractic care for over a year, and wondered if I would spend the rest of my life in this kind of pain or have to submit to surgery. I had 3 acupuncture treatments, and have had no or very little hip pain since.
I went back for ulcer treatment because I had taken so many pain killers, I hurt the lining to my stomach. Successfully treated.
My acupuncturist has also been treating me for insomnia. I had a terrible problem with that for over a decade. That took longer to treat, but after about a year of treatments, I am sleeping longer and deeper; finally able to get in 7 - 8 hours of sleep instead of 3 or 4.
That said, I would guess that just like any other kind of practitioner, I am sure there is a lot of difference in skill. Mine is a gem - I think she is a natural healer.
If you try acupuncture, do not expect to get off the table with instant relief. It can take up to a week or longer for your body to make its adjustments. For my hip, it was only 3 days to feel significantly better, the insomnia took much longer.
I think it could help with stage fright as well as physical problems. It is worth checking out. 1276 days ago
Thanks for stopping by my blog. As a former UPer I think you totally have me beat in the snow department. We do not have the lake effect snow here and I know that the UP really gets dumped on. But it is such a beautiful part of the country. Very much like Northern MN. You may not get the snow in NYC but I bet they don't have the clean up system in place - so it may cause more of a problem when they do get snow.
