Trying to do something worth the effort for once.

I'm a computer geek who gets next-to-no exercise and would rather watch "The Great Outdoors" than actually BE in the great outdoors... My new goal is to slim down and get in good enough shape to hike the entire Abel Tasman Track in New Zealand in 2011.

Is it so wrong to just want to blend into the crowd a little? I can't be Brad Pitt, but it doesn't mean I have to be Chris Farley either...

My Program:
I've started tracking everything I eat and drink, and am starting a little-by-little exercise program which eventually will make up for the 10+ hours a day I sit in front of computers.

Hey there, welcome to Spark People,

Your intro made me laugh, because I have similiar feelings. Outdoors is just so outdoors. My friends bribe me, because I like photography, they'll let me bring my camera, and sometimes that works. I thought computer geeks dabbled in RPG's a little now and then.....ok, maybe it's just where I live that they gather in huge groups in the park and try to hit each other with oddly homemade padded weaponry. Which seems like a good way to get exercise.....But I digress.

I wish you the best in all your endeavors.

So long and thanks for all the fish,

~Jennifer
