I did the same thing you did, researched online. I found lists of foods containing goiteroids and put them on my "Don't Eat" list, and lists of foods that support the thyroid and put them on my "Eat This" list..increased my water and exercise, decreased my stress, started taking probiotics and upped my antioxidants...all the usual stuff. I haven't had my follow up appt yet, it will be next month, with the NP to re-test my TSH and with my Chinese Practitioner, who has me drinking a mushroom tea that tastes like essence of rotted log.
The iodine supplement is probably a no-go, since too much is as bad as too little and a broken thyroid probably isn't using the iodine you have, anyway. But I have lately started avoiding gluten, after reading most of the book Wheat Belly...

I did the same as far as joining years ago and not being good about using the site for long stretches at a time. It's a great site and it was great seeing your post on the Celiacs board and hearing people's take.
