Brenda's Journey

"I shall shape my future. Whether I fail or succeed shall be no man's doing but my own. I am the force; I can clear any obstacle before me. Or I can be lost in the maze. My choice. My responsibility. Win or lose, only I hold the key to my destiny.

Personal Information:
ALL ABOUT ME: I turned 62 on Oct. 18, 2012.

Was transferred by my company to Kansas City, MO from Muskogee, OK in March of 1989. Met my husband on 5/28/1989 and got married on 1/1/94 in Las Vegas.

I have a 42 year old daughter from my previous marriage and 6 step-children (all grown), 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren between us.

I retired 1 mo. and 4 days after turning 48 years old, with 30+years of service.

Because of my age, I got bored staying at home, so I went back to work for 2 different trucking companies as a part-time biller (something I had never done before). Got bored with that after working a little over a year, so I quit.

Started working as an "Independent Contractor" (which is just a fancy name for "mystery shopper". That way the companies I worked for didn't have to pay any benefits).

Other Information:
I enjoyed doing all the different types of shops (jewelry, restaurants, fast food, pet supplies, etc.), but most of the time it took more time to fill out my reports than it did to do the shop. I did that for over 5 years and finally quit after my dad got sick and passed away. Now I stay at home and enjoy it.

"We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference,
ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time,
add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee."

"Three of the most powerful words in the English language are 'I AM RESPONSIBLE.' It's tough to do, but when the day comes that you can say those words, believe them, and mean them, it will be the most liberating moment of your life. Taking responsibility for all of your results, for better or for worse, is taking back your power to create results in your life."
-Tom Venuto

"I will persist until I succeed. Always will I take another step.
If that is of no avail I will take another, and yet another.
In truth, one step at a time is not too difficult.... I know that small attempts, repeated, will complete any undertaking."
- Og Mandino
