Cruisin Lady

Last November I was devastated when I went on my first cruise and found that I was miserable from the water retention and the loss of energy. After two years of extensive research, I made a life-changing decision to have lap-band surgery. After discussing this with my doctor he suggested I join this site to prepare me for the discipline of staying on task. So here I am. A mid-life lady who is a workaholic and NEVER eats at home needing to make a lifestyle change. So I might need a little ...
So I might need a little help.

UPDATE: I am having Gastric RNY on 9/22/08.

UPDATE: 17 months post-op and I've gained back 20 pounds. Went to see my PCP Thursday and he told me that I need to refocus. I've recently changed careers and have devoted most of my time learning and changing mindsets to the new career. Now that I've been doing it a month, I need to get my mind back into the right place. I would like to lose another 30-40 pounds yet. Eating right and less often will hopefully get me started. Any support would be appreciated. Accountability is key!

UPDATE: 9/8/10 - well here it is almost two years later and I have gained another 10 pounds! I can't seem to go the other way. I am losing the battle and getting very depressed over it. Not helping the depression I'm already in over our financial situation. Hard to focus on the healthy foods when you can't even afford the vitamins! I'm really struggling now.

UPDATE: 5/29/13 - So much has happened the last two and half years. I lost my husband in a horrible car accident on Thanksgiving 2010. Needless to say, my weight loss efforts went out the door.
I've been struggling financially and mentally for a long time.
I recently decided to join a friend of mine who has decided to lose weight in hopes that we both can achieve our goals. Wish me luck.

In case you are still reading posts. I wanted to say I miss you and wish you would return to Gastric Bypass Sparklers and the other teams. I am now more than 2 1/2 years out and have also gained 20 pounds and struggling to get it off.
I have started seeing a MSW (he reduced his rate to what I can afford) and I am going to get biofeedback training later this month to see if I can learn new ways to deal with stress.
I know you were struggling when you left sparkpeople and I was hoping we could support each other. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I am so sorry for the sad loss of your husband... I know that there are no words that really help, but I will pray that you can find peace and move on to a healthy future. You can do it, I just know you can! Focusing your attention on your own health is a good way to move forward. One day you will realize that you made it through the hard days, and the future will not look so bleak. emoticon
